Hey Friends,
I'd like to invite you to join us for a very special ride on Sunday, Oct. 27 as we close the season for the last time with GM John Hildebrandt. He's retiring after nearly 40 years with Cedar Fair.
I've posted details in my latest blog entry. I hope you can make it if you're in the area.
Plus, you can also meet Jason McClure, our new GM, if you haven't had the chance yet.
It'll be a special closing day - and one to remember.
Director of Communications at Cedar Point
What a great event, I'll be at the park in spite of probably being seriously hung over from Halloween at Put-In-Bay on Saturday.
Those fried peanut butter fudge balls from the blog look just so seriously delicious. I really hope those are sold in the park, can we say new, awesome signature food item for Cedar Point? I might just have to switch my cheese on a stick habit for those if they end up being sold!
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Most excellent, indeed. We never miss closing weekend (and gosh did last year stink, weather-wise), and this year is no exception. We usually close out the season on Magnum, and observe a moment of silence when getting off the ride at the top of the platform. However, I can't stay past four or so on Sunday, as I have to get the kids back to Detroit and ready for school the next day.
Hate to miss closing, and especially this event, but have to be a responsible dad (this time).
This is a fantastic idea! I'm going to be there regardless so I'm definitely not missing out on this event.....riding Gemini or not.
Funny story, I was in California at Knott's Berry Farm on the 10th and my friend and I ran into John. It was quite the surprise to see him that far west. There appeared to be a manager meeting that weekend as there were managers from all of the Cedar Fair parks.

Just read the blog, planning on being there for my 17th season closing day. Talked to John a few times during the year. Damn,I'm gonna miss him! Always pleasing to talk to him.
