I'm not justifying anything. I'm just parroting what the numbers cruchers are sure to be saying. I suspect Brian is right. I think the city had two possible motives.
One, as Brian explained, they wanted to garner voter's favor to tax increase.
Two, they wanted to put pressure on Cedar Point to somehow get involved with keeping the station open.
What Sandusky needs to be doing is start attracting business to the region that will make more of an economic and jobs impact than hotels.

Cedar Point has their own ambulance service and fire service. There are also have a few ambulances to transport off-point. In the park there is a full staff of firefighters, paramedics, EMT's, and RN's.
Coming from someone who went through the recruit process at a fire dept near Indianapolis and never got hired due to budget cuts, it is always dissapointing to hear talk of more fire rescue cuts in any city.
That is what I meen, makes you want to be sick. I realize CP has some of there own services, but I can't believe they have 10 or 12 firefighters on duty 24 7 365. And where do they get all these people to work on a seasonal basis?

Disregarding the park itself, it's also a poor neighborhood aside from the marinas, and poor folks are historically apathetic voters. What do they care?

I see that they had a fire at Breakers Express, good thing that the causway fire station was still open, I noticed that it was Sandusky F.D. that responded, not C.P. fire.

That's just what I was thinking. I believe CP Fire only responds to calls on the Peninsula, the Sandusky F.D. responds to the properties on the causeway.
Another thing that the city didn't seem to take into account is the large concentration of boats in that part of the city. Three large marinas just around the Causeway: Son Rise, Venetian and Castaway Bay Marina. When you have a boat fire in a area concentrated with boats, every second counts.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Isn't that the truth, just North of Detroit there is a cluster of marinas in the Grose Point area. A few years back they had a rash of marina fires up there, hundreds of boats were lost, but they did eventualy catch the arsonist.

Why in the hell would a security guard do something like that? We were there that night and for several nights afterwards and the fire alarm kept going off at odd times and making a mess of everything.
I just knew someone was pulling the alarm on purpose to cause havoc.
He should be charged with causing a panic, no slaps on the wrist for this bozo.
Makes me wonder if this was the guard who was yelling at my kids for playing with the 25 cent rubber balls they sell in the BE arcade.
CP Safety indeed only responds to EMS and Fire incidents on the point. They have at least one medic on duty 24hrs a day, and have 2 ambulances for transporting off point. Not real sure how much the Fire Office handles - I do occasionally see one of the firefighters cussing and swearing and pounding on the firetruck under the canopy by P&D. Not sure what that is all about!
This is an old string - sorry to bring it up again. I'm thinking CP is keeping a very quite tone on this subject as if they squawk too much the City will say "You want Station 3 open? Then pay the *#@! parking tax" This is a subject near and dear to my heart. I really really hate how some communities play politics with people's safety. Not saying that is happening in Sandusky, just saying I know it happens. And that is a bloody shame. No stunning, original concepts or ideas here, just expressing my feelings.
