CLEAN Hotels Near Kings Island

Good morning. I (might) go to Kings Island for an overnight trip at the end of September for Haunt & mid December for Winterfest. I was wondering if anyone could recommend good hotels, that are CLEAN, decently priced, and safe. Any info would be appreciated.
Have a great day.

I'm not sure how close it is, but the last time I went to Cincinnati I stayed at the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham on Dowlin Road. Very nice, clean, safe and bedbug free!

Blue Ash area - there are a couple of Marriott properties - Towneplace and a Springhill Suites. They are not very far from the park, and they're clean, comfortable and quiet.

My favorites are Comfort Suites, which is off of Kings Mills Dr, one minute away from the park and the Comfort Inn on Fields Ertel Rd which is one exit south of the park.

There is a brand new Drury Inn one exit south of KI. We paid $123/nt and you get 3 free drinks, dinner and breakfast

I’ve never heard of Drury Inn... Is that a chain?

Just make sure you check the 'bedbug reports' before you go, so you don't take home any unwanted visitors!

Anyone travelling to CP and staying in a Sandusky-area hotel should also check this site before they book. I strongly recommend this, as most Sandusky hotels have bedbugs and if you take them home with you they are VERY hard to get rid of!

Stayed at the Comfort Suites in July, it was clean and comfortable. I would recommend here as well. Super close to the park.

One exit from the park's exit of Kings Mills Rd is Mason Montgomery Rd, a main drag with a bunch of chain hotels. We've stayed at the Hampton Inn on Bardes Rd, just off of Mason Montgomery Rd for the last 4 years since that location opened. It's very clean and usually reasonable.

Drury Inns have been around since the 70s and are generally very well kept up. However the coffee, at least at the Cbus location is simply not drinkable and tastes nothing like coffee.

Heating a room to 122 degrees will them and their eggs instantly. Saw it on an episode of Hotel Impossible. NOT the Maui Sands episode though.

We stay at the Drury in downtown C-Bus every spring when we have an annual weekend event that takes place in the attached convention center. I haven't stayed at any other Drury locations, but the free food and drinks are definitely worth it. They usually have a really nice spread for both breakfast and dinner. It's not crappy food like you might otherwise expect for being 'free' - decent filling stuff. You can get multiple plates (buffet style), plus a few free adult beverages during the dinner "happy hour". The rooms have always been very clean and the property is very well maintained.

It is a very convenient location for us in Columbus for what we are there for. We've tried the Hyatt and Crowne Plaza as other convention center local hotels, but now go back to the Drury every year without fail.

I would expect the one in Mason is also top notch.

^ That is exactly how my experience has been at all Drury locations. We have stayed at these hotels in multiple cities because you just can't beat the free drinks/food.

The Mason location just opened in either June or July so everything is nice and the staff are going over the top in trying to make guests happy. We were there for KI last weekend and are headed back again this weekend lol

We stayed at this Hampton Inn in July. Very close to the park, great breakfast, courteous employees, and clean.

Unlike our trips to Cedar Point where we spend a lot of time around the resort (Breakers), when we go to Kings Island we just want to be in the park. So some of the perks other hotels offer such as free dinner, drinks, etc. are fine if you plan on being at the hotel- but we find that we're usually in the park when those things are offered as you won't be walking distance from the park and it can be a headache to leave and come back.

The Comfort inn Suites mentioned above is a good clean hotel based on past experience of staying the night there. It is also easy walking distance to a handful of restaurants in the event that you don't want to drive to get a bite to eat. There's a Speedway gas station right behind the hotel as well.

We stayed at the Super 8 last July. Our room was clean, beds were reasonable comfortable, AC worked good, walking distance to Big Boys and just across the freeway from the park so very convenient. I wasn't impressed with the free breakfast. They had waffle irons and crappy cereal and some juice can't remember if there was fruit or not and they had toast. Next time if we stay there I think I'll just bring my own cereal and use their milk. The waffles were good but getting to use the waffle iron was like waiting in line for a coaster.

Paisley, spot on review of that Super 8. We spent 2 nights in late July. It seemed to be family run, and they did seem to work hard cleaning & such. The place was very dated. We were in the last room on the freeway side, I thouroughly checked for bedbugs & didn't detect any. The paint on the bottom of the bathtub peeled away. They had a teenager out early morning servicing the pool. The breakfast situation was a bit of a cluster, we didn't bother with anything but the shot glass of coffee. $52.00 per night.

That Super 8 had a really bad reputation a few years ago, mostly about dirty rooms. Probably changed ownership so has improved.

Especially with a family paying another $20-$30 a night for a good breakfast spread is very convenient.

I liked that Super 8 is close enough that once we were hot, sweaty and exhausted it was so easy to just grab something to eat outside of the park and then just chill in the AC in our room for an hour. We just all collapsed on the beds, my son watched an Office rerun and I think I managed to fall asleep for about 20 minutes and then we were all ready for round two. The motel itself is nothing special but it gets the job done and that's all I needed. I'll take convenience and location over fancy. I didn't even notice it being dated but last place we stayed before this trip was a 1940s or so motel in a tiny little town in WV so compared to that Super 8 was luxury.
