China Wing Coaster Sticker

Coaster Boi's avatar

Some new pictures came out of China's new wing coaster. One of them is a sticker on the track. B&M put a sticker over another. The sticker UNDER the top one says the customer is X-Works. That is Cedar Fair's code name. Any thoughts?

Maybe it was a mistake.

I believe X-Works is the name they put on all the wing coaster track. I believe this is so that when people sneak onto the manufacturing plant and take pictures they are unsure of where the track is heading.

They put X-Works on every roller coaster they build.

Then why put the sticker on in the first place?

Did you not notice everything else written on it? The customer section is the least important part.

Coaster Boi, those stickers are essential for shipping. They put things like "X-Works" in the description so nerds like us don't directly know what parks they're going to. This helps the park while they're still preparing an announcement for the ride. A lot of people thought the green track spotted months ago was for CP, but that turned out to be wrong. So I'd say it's pretty effective. :)

Well the track that arrived at CP still had X-Works on it. No CP sticker.

Considering the actual important information on the covered sticker is different from the top sticker, I'm going to say someone put the wrong sticker on that piece, and so a replacement with the correct information was layered over it.

^^ And? We just told you that every sticker has xworks on it to avoid enthusiasts from spoiling the surprise. What's hard to understand about that?

Adam - I think this goes in the same category as "Cedar Point remodeled the chik-fil-a building, so they must be getting rid of chik-fil-a" line of reasoning.

Ok, and your point is?

The sticker at the Chinese coaster has a name on it, OTHER than X-Works.

I still don't see your point? Not every sticker is the same.

TTD 120mph's avatar

^^But it's:
(A) Not the name of the coaster.
(B) Not the name of the park.

Seriously.....why is this still being discussed? :P

I am sure that if anyone with the proper scanning equipment could just scan the sticker and know where its going and to who. No need to list it on the sticker and leak valuable information.

Coaster Boi's avatar

Well they need to list it for the construction workers when they are installing the pieces.

I'm pretty sure those don't play a role in the actual installation of the pieces themselves. The track sections, supports and other pieces are listed via a separate marking or sheet of paper that corresponds to the blueprints for the ride. The blueprints tell everything the steel workers and engineers need to know about how and where the pieces go. You can see those markings in
this picture above the shipping label.

I'm pretty sure "X-works" in this instance is the internal code name for Bolliger & Mabillard used by Clermont Steel Fabricators. Those are their stickers and B&M is their customer.
