Chaos up and running!

Choas was up and running today, (8/06/01) Was the problem found at Michigans Adventure?
I don't think the problem has been discovered yet... but it's good to hear that Cedar Point's is back up and running.

Problem was kinda found... and replaced on Chaos machines... and not calling you a liar... but.. I rode it twice today and I swore the crew (few friends of mine) said today was their first day back into operation.

(maybe they just didn't work yesterday)

On a side note.. the State of Ohio, Department of Agriculture Safety Inspectors were in the park today for CP's mid season review and the park passed with flying colors (including the first inspection of VertiGo).

Chance has issued a new bulletin on the Chaos, but its contents are merely an update of the contents of a much earlier bulletin having to do with the main hub bolts. What I find suspicious is that for the wheel to fall, all 28 of the hub bolts would have to fail. Hmmmmm...

Glad to hear CP passed with flying colors. Mr. Markey can find another park to mock!

Live for FUN!

Don't let life fly by.

Given its rate of rotation and load, couldn't the failure of a couple of bolts on one side only cause an excentric force load strong enough to perhaps shear the other bolts?

Losing a single fan blade can destroy a rotor.

I agree with Bill. Thats why you have to balance the ride. Usually the ride will shut down if not balanced properly. Maybe an off balance in conjunction with fatigued bolts casued the hub to come off. I know for a matter of a fact that you can have a fully loaded ride and still have an off balance.
Gak.... A full (actually 2 pages) page picture in this weeks Newsweek....

And of course some meaningless statistics....

Next trip to CP on August 25th - 26th!

I guess theyre pretty sure about its safety, because the Indiana State Fair (hick heaven) got a Chaos this year.  I was surprised to hear they didnt inspect any of the rides before they opened them, youd think with this accident they might consider it, guess not!  Oh well, for a while, Ill stay away from Chaos regardless....

Hick Heaven? I live in Indiana, and there aren't many hicks here...well, not in the northern part anyway. I guess that since it is down in the middle of the state, that people from the southern part would go there too. Just don't get the wrong impression of all of Indiana...:)
