Changes to U.S. Route 250.

There is good and bad news for those of you who travel on U.S. 250 to get to Cedar Point. The bad news is that it is in the beginning phases of a massive construction project which could lead to delays, etc. during the year. It will be closed for a while during the next few months while a new railroad bridge is constucted near the Ohio Turnpike. The detour will be from February 19 to March 16. It is supposed to be open in time for the summer tourists but I think that the construction will continue through the summer. The bridgework has already begun. The good news is that when the project is done, U.S. 250 will be a four lane road all the way from Milan into Sandusky. A left turn lane between the four lanes will be in place from State Route 13 all the way into Sandusky. No longer will you have to toil along behind someone going 45 MPH without being able to pass them because of all the oncoming traffic. The project is supposed to be completed in October, 2002. Information can be found at http://www.dot.state.oh.us/dist3/DDD/PIO/e250-nl1.pdf
I saw they were moving utility poles last summer, wondered when they would start widening road.
hope it goes quicker than route 2 did near Toledo

Two? Hmmm... only know one. OK, so there's a variation on that one. Does that count as two?
I do count that as 2;)! I'll even add a third if I catch up with my friend in Lorain and has a boat!!

Yeah I enjoy my secret way, very little traffic.
That secret way is sweet I never go 250 to CP to much traffic. Right now they are working on that railroad bridge next to the turnpike. Most of the utility poles are up on the left side going north. probably around 70%. Thank goodness it will be 4 lanes. Now if we could only get rid of those milan cops.

must be nice to only have Milan cops to worry about on a trip to the point,it's those state troopers that I'd like to not have around.

Trust me...there are no secret routes to the park...less congested, but not secret. I live about 5 miles east Cedar Point down Cleveland Rd. I remember driving to work one day last summer(around 1 o'clock) and cars were backed up along the Chaussee all the way to the 1000 block! (that's about halfway!) My usual 10 minute drive to work at Cedar Point took almost an hour!!! So the Chaussee is definitely no secret.

It's pretty unusual to have the Chausee backed up like that, though. In respect to Rt. 250, when it's backed up to Rt. 2, there are several ways to avoid that mess and cut considerable time off the trip.

I still maintain that if you must drive to the park, take Columbus Avenue to Scott Street, hang a right, and follow it until it turns into 5th street. Turn left at the 5th Street light onto Causeway Drive, right next to the Coasters Restaurant.
