change in magnum's line

when millenium force opened up, Mantis became really, really popular (not that it wasn't before, just the line was longer...). Now i'm worried that the opening of TTD will cause Magnum (one of my favorite rides) to have a long line. I liked only waiting 1/2 hour or less. Do you think the line will change?
You'll know for sure in 15 days. :)

Thats a good point man, Im sure your right and Magnum lines will get longer. Bummer, I love Magnum's short quick moving lines.

thrilskr, I have thought about this as well, and believe as you that the Magnum lines will get longer. The problem with this and other boards, the glass is always half empty. Given the parks layout, I believe all the rides on the Magnum midway will see longer liines from Corkscrew to Gemini - and lines over by MF should be significantly shorter. I believe a lot of people (like me) will take warm up rides on WT and MF, then head over to TTD for the bulk of the day.

Tom

Glass half empty-Long lines on certain rides

Glass half full-Lines filled=more room/rides in park for people= more people= more money=more rides that CP can Build!

It's all good.

Just as a little side note here, Corkscrew's whole line got pushed back to make room for the midway and grandstands. The midway is now almost up against Corkscrew's station, and the exit stairs are just a straight drop to the midway, no more little landing in the middle.

you are also forgetting about power tower. when the guests get off dragster, the towers are directly in front of them. pt's ridership im guessing is going to increase dramatically this summer.

I'm not that worried about the Magnum lines, the reason being the exit of Dragster is closer to Power Tower. Generally throughout the day it won't have any impact on the line. I just will make the line a little longer in the morning because most people used to run to Force first so it took a while for the general crowd to get to Magnum.

I have a question, as well as a pet peeve about some people when they talk like this...

You are going to go on WT and MF as a "warm up"?

What the hell does that mean? I mean, i can understand if your going to be weightlifting, you might start with lighter weights so you dont hurt yourself...but warming up on a roller coaster just makes absolutely no sense. And if you think it does, explain cause i dont understand... when i go to CP or any other park, i go on a ride to go on it...not to warm up or "work up" to a roller coaster.

By the way, its more fun if you go on a roller coaster unprepared, or not ready, because then it really scares the turds out of you...atleast, imho.

Isn't the opening of Millenium Force about the same time that the Mantis added seatbelts? Weather or not the seatbelts were added at this time, I think that the dispatch time on Mantis decreased about that time, and that had more of an effect on the line length than having Millenium Force right there.

I do think that Magnum's lines will be a little longer than before, but not as significant as with Mantis. Fortunately Magnum will still be able to hit their dispatch interval. :)

The reason one would "warm up" their way to bigger coasters is 2-fold:

1) For you it may be more fun to get that adrenaline rush straight away, but some people want to ride the "lesser" coasters first to assure themselves that they can take on the bigger ones.

2) For some people, riding a "lesser" coaster after riding a bigger coaster lessens the thrill of the "lesser" coaster - for me, Magnum seems more tame after riding MF, and MF will probably be similarly affected after riding TTD.

I admit that I will go to TTD first because of its newness, but after that, I will go on other coasters/rides before going on Magnum and MF to give the adrenaline a chance to wear off.

I am really going to miss riding Power Tower. I am still going to ride it but definitely not as much as I used to. Eh, its cool though. The Turbo Drop always scared the crap out of me.

Anyways...
The warm up question - I have a friend whom i tried to convince on Raptor first but he insited on riding Blu Streak. He said he needed a "warm up". He is not a real big fan of roller coasters, and i am going to try to get him on Millennium Force, Magnum, Mantis, Mean Streak, and Top Thrill Dragster this year. Last year i convinced him to go on Wicked Twister by saying it was only 150 feet tall and only went 60 mph. Afterwards i told him the true speed. I also convinced him to go on Power Tower Space Shot by telling him that it was a little taller then Wicked Twister and a goodly amount slower. The reason he rode ANY of these to begin with was because of his warm up on Blue Streak.

the line question - i believe that Magnum's lines will change for this year, as more people will be over to that part of the park, and will want to catch a ride on this great coaster.

See you in 13 days!!!

Honestly, the "warm-up" coaster thing can also be thought of in the same way as warming up for weightlifting. Riding a coaster puts a lot of forces on your body that you don't experience on a daily basis. Do you realize how many people get headaches, hurt their back, get sprained necks, etc on coasters? Going on a coaster with less intense forces can help loosen your body and prep you for some of the more intense rides. I know quite a few people that do warm up rides on smaller coasters for this reason and some others that have already been stated.
Well i for one will miss the shorter lines for Magnum, but on the upside, with everyone focusing on that area of the park Raptor's line should be even shorter....right?
right you are, Raptor1117. everyone loves Raptor, one of the greatest coasters in the park, but it constantly has some very long lines (nearly 2 1/2 hours long!). we can only hope that you are right...
