Chances for Millennium Mania in 01?

This year's event was poorly attended. Great for the attendees, but not so good for Cedar Fair, LP. It was also hastily concieved in the middle of the season, and the only people on the planet who knew about it were those who saw the signs in the park or visited the web site.

MM would have been far more successful had it been promoted from the beginning of the year. Lots of coaster nuts will plan mid-September vacations if they read about another MM event in the '01 Getaway Guide. They question is, will they try it again?

I hope so, MM is the kind of event that shows what a great place CP can be for it's fans. Yeah this year was kinda slow but still, things like this need some time to build up. Halloweekends didn't take off in a single year, it's been a building process.

Hopefully they'll do it again next year, I loved it. 5 of my favorite days I was at the park all season.

I think the "hastily concieved" part was the problem. If they budget a few thousand people and hit those numbers, I could see it as being an annual event.

Word on the street is that they'll try it again next year.

judging by the "flyer" they gave us as we left I would say yes there will be more events like or similar to that in the future...

mf laps = 100! No More No Less!!
I'll stash my 19 bucks away right now if the do. If you were there it was the greatest 19 dollars ever spent.
I agree with sky kicker. I was their for 2 days this year & if they have it next year I will be back for all of them. It was the best $19.00 I spent this year!
MF laps =50
It will probably be back, but not in the same format as it was this year.( maybe all coaster's in the park + PT event.)
It really wasn't all Cedar Point's fault for planning it too fast, the weather really didn't cooperate on them. Also, Cedar Point received a lot of bad press from the Sandusky Register. A lot of letters complaining from Season Passholders not being allowed in. I've been a Combo Passholder for a few years now, and saw the logic of MM. If you want to ride the coasters with a low wait (and have CP make a profit), you don't let a thousand or two in for free.
I really hope they do MM next year. It was so awsome to get off of Millennium Force then walk right back to the station. I waited no more then 5 min. I also hope that they do very little advertising, so it won't be too crowded. I went to MM on a Wednesday or Thursday, i'm not sure, but it was the best day i ever had at Cedar Point! My last ride that night was at 10:00pm, one of the last trains, front seat. It was amazing!

I hope so to. If they have it on a school day like they did this year, well I'll just have to use one of my "farming" or "hunting" excuse days my school has and go.

please ignore my many typos and grammar errors :)
I was a season passholder that was initially ticked off that MM wasn't available without the extra $19. But after thinking about it, and seeing it, I COMPLETELY understood.

The season pass is for "regular operating days". MM was NOT part of "regular operations". It was a special, limited-entry event. Allowing passholders in for free would have filled up that entire count immediately.

I hope MM is back, in a similar form. Cedar Point probably DID lose money on the event, but it was definitely a way to foster good PR with enthusiasts (even if at the risk of ticking off some of the locals...)

Great idea, eric! Our school also gives you a free day off if you're hunting.

A bad day at CP is better than a good day at work.
