Cedarpoint website history page/ SkySlide, funhouse & Kiddieland questions

I've gotten many emails back from the park in the past dealing with other issues but none on these current park history problems, even after properly addressing them about the website. Does anyone know who edits the cedarpoint.com/sitemap/media center/park history part of the website?

Here's some major errors I've noticed on the website, my intention not to bash any current employee, whatsoever, but I do think the park's history is important and should be corrected on there. Western Cruise is listed as 1964 when older brochures show the ride in 1960/61 (old riverboat ride). Maybe it wasn't officially called that back then? It's 1st dock was next to the scamper coaster and relocated 3 more times.

Here's the problem specifically for 1970. It's stated that Sealand and Kiddieland were both introduced in 1970. Inside of the 1968 brochure shows Sealand and also the 1966 brochure (w/small map) shows the same Kiddieland area where it still stands today, its also pictured in the 1969 brochure and also on the cover of the 1960 brochure! (fun fairyland for kids!) . The website has Trabant (old ride next to where Scrambler is today) introduced in 1971 when all of these 3 items are pictured on my 1969 souvenir map. 1968 is listed on the official site for SkySlide which is probably correct.

The park made $2 in invesments each year from 1967-69 so I'm thinking alot of this stuff was introduced during these times. Sorry to ramble, here's my questions: true years for Trabant and Funhouse? Both on my 1969 map, not on 1966 brochure. I'm thinking 1968. Real true year for Kiddieland? It's in the 66' brochure w/small map.
Also does anyone remember the Skyslide having a canopy at the top with a clear look behind you, and only 1 set of steps to the left when it opened? Later on there were 2 sets of steps (1 on each side) and the top back area was "fenced in" so you couldn't look down.

***Are there any kind of park maps (unofficial) from 1967 and 1968 anywhere w/pics that would help? Any help on this stuff would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Ok, here is what I know or found out:

Western Cruise was opened in 1961, with the dock located about where Coasters is now.

Kiddieland was around since sometime in the early '50s. It had gravel instead of pavement. Sometime in the early to mid '60s (1964 maybe) Kiddieland was paved like the rest of the Main Midway. They added new rides to Kiddieland in the late 60's, with the Kiddieland Carousel installed in 1968.

What happened in 1970 is that Kiddieland was renovated and enlarged. There used to be a miniature golf in Kiddieland about where the off-road trucks are now. The mini-golf was moved to the other side of the Colosseum, located next to where Sky Slide was, behind Pagoda. Kiddieland was renamed Kiddy Kingdom in 1993 with some more modifications and ride additions.

Sealand opened in 1967.

I'm not sure when Trabant opened, but it was sometime in the 60's, not 1971.

Hope this helps!

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

^ thanks. Yep, I found some more info. The upside down Funhouse was built in 1966 (in front of old bath house). I was also off 1 year as I had WC about 1962. Kiddieland was in the early 50s from my research and expanded little by little. Greatly in 1970 like you said, I knew about the mini golf over there, it's on my 1969 map. I remember playing at the newer location by sky slide when I was a kid. Trabant is from the year 1966 (on the 69 map, accidentally listed as "Flying Coaster" on the 66' brochure, that ride was there a year earlier but removed to make way for Trabant next). Thanks for the Sealand confirmation for 1967, it would make sense they highlighted it in the 68' brochure.

Now, anyone have any type of map/advertisment showing a map of the park/rides in 1967 or 1968? I've yet to find anything. Thanks again.

The Kiddy Kingdom name wasn't until 1993? I ask because I thought the kingdom theme arrived in 1981 with the establishment of the ball pit/climber, Kid Arthur's Court.

I know that was 1981 because that was the year I bought my first camera... 8-)
