CedarPoint-opoly 3rd Edition

As the title would suggest, I am here today to talk about the newly released CedarPoint-opoly 3rd Edition. Sunday morning after CoasterMania! I went in the park with the original intention of utilizing the Platinum hour. But, because it was raining, I decided to shop instead. Mostly I wanted to get the latest Souvenir Map. But, lo and behold, there stood the latest in Cedar Point collectibles. CedarPoint-opoly 3rd Edition.

I will describe everything as best I can. But, since I am not opening the box, I can only tell you what I see based on the box. The board has a whole new look. Rather than the spaces being designated with the rides logos, they now display actual pictures with the name in white lettering across the photo. The property cards have been jazzed up a bit. But, are basically the same. However, the "Big Fun" and "Wild Ride" cards have been completely reworked. The game pieces appear to be the same. Though they may be a bit more detailed.

I will list the changes in spaces. Other than the looks, anything not listed here has remained the same.

Merry Go Round has become Midway Carousel

Centennial Theater has become Jack Aldrich Theater

Whac-A-Mole has become The Guessing Game

Demon Drop has become Disaster Transport

Disaster Transport has become Thunder Canyon

Thunder Canyon has become Shoot the Rapids

Power Tower has become Wicked Twister

Wicked Twister has become Maverick

Summer Spectacular has become Starlight Experience

To summarize, the spaces that are gone include: Centennial Theater; Whac-A-Mole; Demon Drop; Power Tower; and Summer Spectacular. The spaces we have gained include: Jack Aldrich Theater; The Guessing Game; Shoot the Rapids; Maverick; and Starlight Experience.

You could say Merry Go Round was lost and Midway Carousel was gained. But, that's really what it was anyway. I'm not sure why it wasn't that all along.

I never understood why they released the 2nd edition when they did. I believe it was released the year before Maverick Opened. The 1st and 2nd editions were virtually identical. The only difference on the board that I can see was that Challenge Park became Castaway Bay. They could have incorporated Sky Hawk or maXair or even waited a year and added Maverick.

All in all, I love the new look of the game. It's received a much needed make over.

I'd LOVE to pick up the game. Did they seem to have a lot on hand? I've heard they sell out pretty quick in years past.

I can't remember a visit where they didn't have plenty sitting on the shelf. But, now that I've posted this, who knows. ;)
