Despite these being obvious advertisements for all their extra stuff to buy, I think that these are actually well-crafted layouts of all the things to do at the parks that they are really trying to market towards. They really make the park seem like a vacation destination rather than a one-day trip to ride rides.
I'm mildly surprised to see them pushing a trip to Put-In-Bay or Kelleys Island on there. I get it, having the ferry at the CP Marina is definitely a perk, but I just figured they'd only want to advertise their own property attractions to maximize in park spending. I fully agree however, that's what we do. Stay at Breakers for about 4 nights, and spend at least 1 full day on one of the islands. It's so much more convenient having the ferry come to CP now, instead of having to drive over to one of the other ferry spots and then back to CP, especially if we hit up Put-In-Bay. Noone should to be driving after that, hah.
The purpose of this offering is to excite more viewers and turn more of them into paying customers. If playing off the synergy of other local attractions helps seal the deal, why wouldn’t the park do so?

I suspect Disney wouldn’t be doing as well as it is if it was the only thing sitting out there in the middle of the swamp. When Sandusky succeeds CP succeeds.
Cargo Shorts I think you have that somewhat backwards. If Disney hasn’t done so well, there wouldn’t be nearly as much other stuff in that swamp. And when Cedar Point wins, Sandusky wins.
ROUNDABOUND.
Plus, encouraging visitors to take a day trip somewhere might encourage overnight stays, hopefully at one of their own resorts, and multi day park visits.
I see both Cargo Shorts and Shane Denmark’s point, and the conclusion is that one certainly feeds off of the other. Let’s harken back to the 70’s, when everyone figured out Disney was going to show up. Would Sea World and a thousand motels appear without? No. Build where the business is. And as for Sandusky/Orlando/Kissimmee we’ve talked on end about whether they would be towns without Cedar Point/ Disney and the answer is yes. They were all along. Different, certainly, but yes.
If Cedar Point wins the entire Lake Erie Shores & Islands region wins. Not only will day trips to Put-In-Bay encourage overnight stays at CP, but increased business at Put-In-Bay will encourage investment and new things on the island. The entire thing has some nice synergy and is great for economic growth in the region.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
