Cedar Point's Map is back!

I just received the Getaway Guide, and was surprised and ecstatic to find out that the map style from a few years ago is back. The cartoony maps of the past couple of years have been done away with!. It is a very detailed map with trains and riders on almost every ride. There have been a few revisions made to some of the rides, and MF and WT look tight (even if the riders are facing the wrong way :)). I'm so glad that they brought back these detailed maps.

Did you notice that on page 6 that the people are on an imaginary ride? Their supposed to look like their on the MF but in reality they are in a magnum car and there's no track where the car supposedly is.

Cool, I hope the souvenir maps are the same way! :)

Ya I saw that and was wondering what was going on there, but then just said computer effects, you have to have them!

Once you drop, the fun don't stop!

Yeah, I noticed the Maggie cars in that picture...it's a very nice profile of MF anyway. Also on page 8 look at the picture of the CP & LE railroad crossing the river. I don't think the lagoons have been that blue in the history of the park! :) I think that's a doctored photo for sure.

Toget the Getaway Guides, did you need to request one from the site and it will be mailed to you, or are the guides just sent out and will eventually come to everyone?

Cedar Point, the cure for the Summertime blues!

I think you can request them if you want to, but they also send them to you if you have your name on their mailing list. I guess that would pretty much include anyone who has stayed at their hotels or has requested one in the past.
I did it by phone just to make sure the order went through. I ordered it last Monday and got it this Monday...that's pretty quick if you ask me.

Actually CP_bound, just because the detailed map is back in the Getaway Guide doesn't guarantee that it will be the same for the Park Maps (Fun Guides). I was disappointed at the cartoonish-looking maps the last couple years, too, and then last year I bought a Souvenir Map (the big ones) and it had the detailed map! So there's a chance that the detailed map will only be used on the Souvenir ones and the Getaway Guide. Hopefully not though! :)

I think the souvenir maps have been overly cartoonish since they started doing that with them in 94. I like the old straight really detailed souvenir maps from before then. I hope they bring them back.

Sorry Flisk, I have some bad news :(..

It may be a more detailed map for the getaway guide compared to previous years, but it's just the 2001 souvenir map contracted, with the exception of wicked twister and dogems. Everything still looks cartoony from magnum's exploded pretzel loop, Gemini on the wrong side, and the lift on Millennium Force being the same angle as the drop.

I agree with Flisk, those old maps which look like an actual straight drawing are a lot better.

That sucks! Maybe if we complain enough, next year it will be back to straight drawing. ;)

Fear the Mullet!

I like the souvenir maps a lot better than the ones in the Getaway Guide and Park Guide last year. It's not the most accurate thing on the planet, but at least it looks colorful. :) Still waiting for my Getaway Guide to arrive. :)

You guys miss the point of the souvenier maps. They're not designed to be scale representations of the park, they're intended to show the proximity of attractions to each other and purposefully exaggerate stuff to emphasize it.

I ordered mine. One question....they call it an "information packet"...Is that the same thing?

OMG! The Space Spiral is leaning!!" Must be the weight of that new air conditioning system everyone keeps hypothesizing about...

I don't think it's a question of missing the point - it's a question of desiring something with a different point - to wit, accurate maps.

Yup! Information pack is the same thing. LoL.

I also noticed that error on page 6, and even if the riders were on the MF's 3rd hill, the force train climbing in the background wouldn't be going up, just yet;)
