I think they will continue to bring what the people want. If taking out unique attractions like fascination, IMAX, Oceana and replacing them with multimillionaire dollar attractions ie. rollercoasters is what brings in the money then that is what they will do.
But is it really bringing any more money in? How have attendance figures been the last few years? With admission around $42, pop at $3 a bottle, and parking at $8, a day at the park is getting pretty steep. I wonder how many families are getting to the point that they can't justify spending a big hunk of money for a day at an amusement park (CP or elsewhere).
Please don't get me wrong...I love Cedar Point! I'm not trying to show impending doom or anything like that. I guess I'm just concerned that attendance will start to slip, prices will go up to compensate, and a vicious cycle could start.
Maybe this is opening up a gap for the return of the smaller parks...

It's very hard to drink all day...
Unless you start first thing in the morning.

They will keep doing what they are doing, which has been fairly successful for over 125 years.
While there is that perception, the construction of Camp Snoopy is a good indication that they're trying very hard to make sure it is a family park, and with hotels and a water park you further drive home that point. I think they need to plug their shows more... they're far and away some of the best I've seen.
The park will build whatever will attract interest and provide a relatively quick return on investment.

It would be a great site for a PGA event. The wind would bring havoc.
I think that CP is going the right direction by adding more family friendly attractions, and also by expanding the hotels. If families can make vacations out of the park, that just means more revenue.

The park is known for its rides, and in some ways, I think that works against them. The thrill ride attraction crowd isn't always the best demogrpahic.
Also, they've gotten such a reputation for building the biggest and best that there are now a bunch of coaster dorks who are impossible to please unless they build a record breaking hyper inverted standup woodie every two years. Just look at all the whining when WT was announced. WT could probably be the lead attraction at many parks, but at CP, it's "just an impulse."
I agree that within the next five years, the Bon Air wing will probably bite the dust in favor of a new larger resort structure. The whole idea of night life seems like a place that they could make a killing too.

CP did have the Berenstein Bears before Snoopy...remember Berenstein Bear Country, with the big inflatable treehouse that tended to blow off during high winds? Whatever happened to that area anyway?
It's now Peanuts Playground. The indoor part was covnerted to the snoopy boutique Pretty much most of the old equipment is still there.
