Cedar Point with someone disabled

Can anyone give me advise on visiting Cedar Point with someone that is disabled from a stroke at an early age. My daughters and I love going and are planning on taking my husband in May.

They do have wheel chairs and electric carts for rent. The carts are the one person scooter type that are driven by they disabled person. They are about $35 a day. They are available next to the entrance. There is a limited number and there is high demand. I think you may be about to reserve one in advance. Call Cedar Point. The wheel chairs cost less. The park is mostly handicapped accessible, most rides have a special entrance.

We are going to speak with his Doctor next time we see him to get recommendations on what rides will be safe for him to ride. He is very excited about going.

Caosterluvinmomma,

Before you go to the park, make sure to review Cedar Point's Rider Safety Guide. The entire booklet is available online at the Cedar Point website: http://www.cedarpoint.com/_upload/pdf/2006_rider_safety_guide.pdf

When you arrive at the park, take care of any wheelchair or scooter rental needs you may have, then head straight for Park Operations located near Kiddy Kingdom and the Main Arcade (On the right side of the midway just next to the women's restroom). It's listed on the park map and any employee should be able to give you directions. There, a friendly park operations staff member will be able to speak with you one-on-one and will give you the Ride Admission Policy slip which will tell you what rides, if any, you will be restricted from riding. They will also give you a hard copy of the Rider Safety Guide that is online.

Enjoy your trip to the Point!

~Jeff

Edit: To clarify, wheelchairs are not able to be reserved in advance and are on a first-come, first-served based. Standard, push chairs are available for $10 plus a $5 deposit. Electronic scooters are $35 plus a $25 deposit. *** Edited 10/16/2006 4:50:18 PM UTC by JayDubs***

I'm going to print the guide off and take it with us when we see his Doctor next time. Thanks.
