I live in the metro detroit area. I have noticed alot more lately that Radio stations, Window and Siding copanys, Grocery stores (wal mart meijer) are giving away tickets. If i can remember correctly i dont remember so many ticket giveaways in a long long time. Is Cedar Point worried because of gas prices that michigan residents wont visit the park. I have also noticed that it seems to be not as busy durring the week. Yea i know it is more busy on friday and Saturday than any other day but its been alot lighter this year than in the past. To bad gas is screwing up the entire country.

^Gas isn't screwing up everybody. People who can afford to go to CP like that the crowds are lighter, like I do. ;) But Ohio is doing the same thing too. Its been this way for as long as I can remember. Everybody gives out tickets. My favorite radio station is giving away VIP passes and spending money. http://925kissfm.com/cc-common/globalcontestfinder.html

Happens every year.

Woo, another brainwashed clearchannel listener.

You do realize that by giving away a few tickets they're getting tons of free advertising?

For example, if they are giving away 2 passes (retail price of $35 each) on the radio they're going to have the name mentioned at least a few times.

ie:

  • We're going to be giving away tickets to Cedar Point All weekend long
  • Keep listening for your free Cedar Point tickets
  • In just a few minutes we'll be giving away Cedar Point Tickets
  • Call in now to win Cedar Point Tickets.
  • John Smith of Detroit, Michigan is our winner of 2 Cedar Point Tickets...
Not to mention that if they're giving away 2 tickets, those two people are very likely to bring friends, pay $10 per car parking, lots of money for food, play games, buy lots of CP stuff. They'd probably even spend more than usual in the park because the tickets were free.

The radio station gets more listeners, Cedar Point gets lots of money, people get free tickets. It's a win for everyone.

Last I knew radio stations were in it for the money. and unless they charge for advertising they don't make any. When my work had a counter day a few years back we gave away around $4000 worth of stuff and still had to pay the radio station for advertising.

I noticed a window and siding company on a billboard as well on the the beginning of I-96 in Muskegon also offering 4 free tickets

^^ More listeners = more money from each advertisement.

One windows company was giving away a $800 gas card. And another windows company was giving away a 4 pack Cedar Point tickets. Me and my sis were laughing and said we should just buy some windows and get a free trip to CP. lol.

"You wanna, you gotta, you hafta hold on, Cedar Point...HOLD ON!"

Hey Im really happy it has not been as busy this year I have a Platnum Pass so I go whenever i can and i love the walk on's for Magnum and well everything besides Millie and Maverick.

Combination of gas prices and economy. Lots of abandoned homes here, people I used to work with getting a 15% paycut after they already have gotten 2, 10% paycuts and no raises since 2000.

So you saying that they're making about 72% of what they made 8 years ago? What line of work are you in?
