Cedar Point Texting

I was at the park yesterday (Trip Report soon) but I wanted to discuss the Texting Service available.

Near all the enterances and through out the park there are large promotions for the service.

Text cptoday to 74674.

The promotions I recieved weren't very exciting or great. I recieved 6 promotions through out the day and one informative welcome text explaining the service. The texts I recieved consisted of...

$2.00 off Shoot The Rapids bottle, Snoopy Scavenger hunt, $5 t-shirt with purchase of 20 dollars or more, buy two fudge get one free, Season Pass information, and one saying hope I enjoyed the day and said I would recieve a max of 4 texts a month from the park.

I tried it a few weeks ago, pretty much the same stuff you got with a text about All Wheels Extreme in there too. I texted "stop" back to them before I got the 4 a month message apparently. Everything they texted me was stuff we already knew. Probably a great idea for the once or twice a year visitor, but pretty much worthless for the regulars. Now if they could do one with hourly updates on wait times, rides down, etc., I'd use that every weekend.

Six flags does the same thing, only much better deals.

We got a 2 for 1 on the sky coaster, a free large sode, games discounts, bogo funnel cakes,50% off at certain stores.

I love the concept, but I don't want any more texts after I leave the park.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

that would be cool about rides and wait times ,now that would be useful in the park.
Like you could type in something like magnum@ 23455
and it would give you a wait time within like 5 min of the actual wait time or have it send a mass text when a ride goes down and give you and approximate time on how long it will be down.
Good idea but a bad way to use it!!!with all of that junk texting

Being a Ride Warrior is just not a job!
It's a way of life!!!
I have ridden the all the coasters at K.I. and C.P. that i have lost count!!!!! and it is not the amount of times i have ridden, it is just the joy of riding them for me!!!!

Just FYI for iPhone users...theres an app-Cedar Point Ride Watch-that allows people in the park to fill in wait times for rides-it's not an official CP app but it's a cool tool for iPhone users to have! Sorry, I know it's not about texting, but I thought it went along with the topic...
