Cedar Point Rougabrew Beer

Kevinj's avatar

What type of beer is it, Thabto? A pale ale? A lager? Just curious if you know what type it is, or if not what you would compare it to.

I'd compare the taste to Molson. Rougabrew was way better than I was expecting.

Rougabrew is a lager made by The Brew Kettle in Cleveland. They make some excellent beers, I'm not surprised that it is good beer.

We had a Rougabrew last night at the Red Garter. Its a great smooth lager. Definitely give it a try.

Smooth lager, light carbonation, one finger of pale white head, minimal lacing in glass, malt like finish, no taste left on tongue after a few seconds, no bitterness at all. Not bad, way better than the Diamondback Ale (IPA) down at Kings Island, that is a joke of a Pale Ale.

That's because all IPA's suck. I'll never understand the appeal outside of beer hipsters.

Certain IPAs suck, some are good. Try Chillwave IPA by Great Lakes or Fat Head Head Hunter by Fat Heads. They have nice tropical fruit smells and tastes. The bitter has to either be something you don't mind or you enjoy. If bitters aren't your thing you can't enjoy overly hoppy IPA's, just how it goes.

Biggest thing is for Diamondback Ale calling it an IPA, there's no bitter taste at all, nice hop aroma, nothing in taste. Sadly nothing else they carry on tap down there is great though. Stella is the best tap inside the park sadly. CP stepped up their beer market the past two years. Seeing Dortmunder Gold in the park this year made me quite a happy camper.

I don't think Dortmunder is new... I'm pretty sure I've had it somewhere on the peninsula in the last four or five years. Maybe Friday's.

Quite possibly there, I never get beer there however. Liquor is quicker. On point in the park however and for $10, I'll gladly get a glass of that. If I missed that in the past though, I'm seriously kicking myself in the ass for sticking with Blue Moons all day. Not that that's a bad beer, but I'd def. prefer the other.

I could totally be wrong, but I'm confident I've seen/had Great Lakes at the park, and I haven't been there much in the last two years (what with the geographic change), so it had to be before that.

I'm not much of a beer drinker, but Rougabrew was good. What made it great was the taste and very little aftertaste, which is what I don't like about beers. If they sold it in 6 packs, I would buy them. I got mine from Last Chance Saloon over by Maverick. They put it in a plastic cup. I would like to keep the bottle, but they said they can't give it to you in a bottle due to company policy. The bottle would be a good item to collect.

Apparently I had not thought this through. I actually would like an opened bottle of it to have as a souvenir in my office.

Sigh.

If only I had friends that worked at the park...

I just want an unopened one to actually try in a good glass and whatnot. Not a plastic cup poured so I have half a glass of foam head

The Surf Lounge has it on tap and will pour it in a nice glass for you.

I'd like to take the bottle. Why can't they give it to me in a bottle? It would be a nice collectible. I'm going to assume it's because the park doesn't want people walking around with beer bottles because the park wants to maintain a family friendly environment. Or broken glass could be a safety hazard, but I'm going to say no on that because they sell glass souvenirs in the gift shop. When beer is in a cup, others can't always tell what's in it, it could be some type of pop for all you know.
