Cedar Point Resorts Cancellation fee

I was just on the cedar point website. For anyone who has a
reservation at cedar point resorts and if you cancel -you will
now be charged $50.00 cancel fee.

I believe that they've been doing that for at least a few years.

What? $50? I could have sworn it was $25 when I reserved in april.

This is nothing new; it's been this way for atleast the last few years. The Camper Village cancellation fee is $25.

^ Same with Breakers. the $50 fee might just be for the hotel they are staying at.

Here it says that the $50 cancellation charge applies to all properties except Camper Village, which is $25 for a cancellation.

Yes, there has been a cancellation fee for years,but was $25.00.
When i made my reservation for this coming weekend and
october-the fee was $25.00. I believe the $50 fee is a recent
change. This fee is for all lodging facilities.

I stand corrected. This fee applies to all except camper village.

Damnit. It sucks that they changed it right after I reserved. O well. I doubt I will be canceling.

It's not a big deal if you don't cancel. And besides even if you do, it's only $50, I spend more than that on lunch for the family at Johny Rockets.

To avoid the cancellation fee, just move your reservation to a later date. Last time I checked there was no fee for changing the date. If you can't go when the new date rolls around, change it again and save your 50 bucks.

Right: changes (including shortening your stay) do not incur the fee. It's only if you cancel. I've moved an "early-season" reservation later for rain, etc. more than once.

Can you move a reservation from one season to the next?

Damn, I may be cancelling my first Thursday night reservation for Coastermania and only using my Friday night reservation.

Since I am not cancelling entirely, do you think the fee will sill apply?

I haven't tried that. I'd be surprised, but not call-the-papers-shocked.

I really doubt that they'd let you do that. They'd want to close their books for the season when it comes to a close.

I don't know about "closing their books". The resort season is year round now with Castaway Bay. Plus, in the fall, when the park is still open, you can make reservations for the following year and they will gladly take your money with a smile.

Yes, it's now a year-round operation, but even Castaway closes its books on one year, and opens 'opens its new books,' so to speak, at some point in time. Every company does it.

As a former CP reservationist the policy is as such...

You can move your reservation to any day this year or 5 years from now and you will not incur the fee.

You only incur the fee if the reservation is cancelled and you are issued a cancellation letter in the mail.

However, 9 times out of 10 if you have a half way legit reason as to why your cancelling they will wave the fee. Especially since the free is a manual transaction the manager has to do. (Emergency scenarios usually work) ;)

Lastly - as most of you know - ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS pay with your credit card... no checks, no debits.... Youd be surprised the amount of people that cancel just because of a change of heart, or that just cant warrant spending all that money on a hotel room... The manager will hardly ever wave the fee in that case....

Most cases like that end up with the customer dealing directly with the credit card company to hash out with the CP....

All that being said - make your reservations quickly.... we all know how the hotels fill up :)

The fee has recently been changed. I made reservations for Breakers Express on April 17th. I just checked the reciept i printed out and on it it says....

"Refund policy......

A $25.00 cancellation fee is charged for any room that is cancelled. 72 hours notice is required for a partial refund. Your partial refund will be your deposit minus the $25.00 cancellation fee."

Then it goes on to say....

"Guests may change dates of stay prior to arrival without penalty, depending on availability."

So now i'm curious. Since i printed out my reciept and it says this would i have to pay the $50.00 fee since they changed it? Or, are they held to the $25.00 as stated in my reciept if i were to cancel?

I know i would probably just move the date if i couldn't go unless (like last year) my wife would get pregnant again and i couldnt go all year.
