Hey guys/gals, my buddies and I have planned a trip out to Cedar Point in the middle of July, and I just had a couple questions for you more experienced... Cedar Pointers...? haha
I've noticed in the discussion boards that many people have witnessed Maverick going down, it seems like I've gathered that from a lot of the trip reports. Is this common with newer rides? Is it anything that is serious, from what you know?
Secondly, we've planned for 3 days at CP, and am also wondering if (providing good weather) it's common for rides to go down for more than a 3 day time period? I'm just asking cause my friends and I are from Fargo, ND, and I've been to CP once before. I am just hoping that they get to experience some of the best coasters, if not, the best coasters in the world!
Finally, I'm just wondering what some of the better dining facilities and attractions are, other than the rides, that we should check out? We're not too worried about money, seeing that this is our huge summer trip! Thanks!
Maverick and Dragster, the rides that experience downtime the most, are only usually down on average for 15 minutes at a time. Dragster however, can have major breakdowns and close for a half or full day at the most, but this is unlikely. Weather may shut down rides for a period of time until Park Operations signal weather that is safe for rides to operate in. The shows are also pretty good and most food is acceptable, but Chick-fil-a is my favorite, which is back in Frontier town. Hope this helps!
Ya Top Thrill Dragster and Maverick have the most downtime but an average of about 10-15 Minutes. Like Nick said Chick-Fil-A is good and you have to go to Famous Daves. I Wouldn't recommend TGI Fridays. The rides most likely won't have a 3-day downtime period. So I hope this helped!
Have Fun!

I would recommend TGI Fridays on both locations actually. I have found then to be very good in the summer when help is plentiful. You do have to be careful when the college kids go back to school though, as then things can become a bit dicey.
If you are there for 3 days I highly doubt a breakdown, or breakdowns will hinder the amount of rides you can get on. It is possible something may go down for a half an hour or so, or even a day if something really unlikely happens, but the chances of something going down for 3 days - almost non existent.
Thrills Around the Corner!
It's always common for the new ride to have more issues than the rest of the rides do.
Typically, none of the rides are ever down for more than an hour or so, at least from my experience. Unless something is seriously wrong with a ride, you should be able to ride everything you want within three days.
I, too, recommend Chick-Fil-A, as well as Macaroni's and Midway Market.
Hope you have good weather, and a good time!
It's called Millennium Force, not "Millenium" Force. Thanks.
Some advice... ride maverick at night or at sunset. the sunset really adds to the theme of the ride like being in the wild west!
Also, be prepared for crowded midways if you are going on the weekend. yes, ppl are slow and will NOT move outta the way when stuck behind them, most of the time.
Just a word to the wise. When you are at the park the rides with the longest lines are going to be Raptor, Maverick, MF, and TTD. Make sure to do these rides early or later in the day.
Have a good trip.
1) Millennium Force
2) Maverick
3) Raptor
4) Shivering Tembers
