"Cedar Point on Lake Erie" website?

Hello.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me whatever happened to the website "Cedar Point on Lake Erie". I remember checking it out a few years ago and it appears that it's no longer online.

I remember it being a really nice historical site that had a lot of great pictures and vintage brochures.

Does anyone know what became of the content?

Thanks for any info.

Mike

That site was a "mini site" on The Point Online: http://www.thepointol.com/cponle/. There site suffered a data loss recently and that part of the site must have been lost.

Ouch...

So, it sounds like all the great stuff that was on that site is gone then?

I especially liked the full scans of all the old brochures, park guides, postcards.

Any chance of having a nice "historical" area on Point Buzz? I see there is a section of pictures. What about putting up old marketing stuff and photos of things other than rides?

Thanks for the info guys.

I actually have a new history site built in my head. I just haven't had the time to move it from there to a web server. But you should see it. It's very well done. :)

In the meantime, you can try the archive of the former Virtual Midway history section.

Well Walt. In the light of DK's latest "tease" about next year's new thrill ride bringing back a lot of memories for us "people that follow Cedar Point" (sounds like a religion or something), perhaps it's a good time to start preparing your historical section's move from brain to server.

I have a nice collection of brochures from the 70s through 90s that I'd certainly let you borrow if you need any.

Thanks for the great work you've done over the years.

Jason Hammond has tons of the old brochures up on his website. Tons of fun going back and looking at the evolution of park maps and brochures.
