I've seen all the old commercials for Cedar Point on youtube. I've been obsessed with the place since I was a kid and only recently started going back regularly.
I exhausted my search looking for some video that shows Disaster Transport in all of its glory (the queue line videos, the robot, the dialogue while you wait in line, all the theming) but I couldn't find this anywhere. You'd think someone would have video taped the experience back in the early 90s!
Anyways, my question is. For someone looking for nostalgia and all of that. What is some of the best dvds or books that I could buy?
There's a book called CP: The Queen of American Watering Places, or something like that. It has a lot of history and old photos of the park. It also focuses a lot on the Boeckling era. I have the original issue from around 1990, but I'm sure it's been redone since then.
There's also a great website with old park brochures dating back to the early 1900s - http://www.rollercoasterfreak.com/Brochures.html. Not the best layout, so plan to look around for awhile!
As for DVDs, I'm not sure. Your best bet is probably YouTube. There's one of someone riding Frontier Lift. Now that brings back memories! I barely remember that thing!
Don't even think about it, little boy. I will race you back to the Mean Streak and win.
Not sure if you have seen this series, but it's pretty good.....
