I know this weekend starts Cedar Point Nights with later closing times, extra beach activities and fireworks before closing. Are the fireworks visible from the beach by Breakers? Thanks!
The beach is one of the best places to view the fireworks. Also great viewing from the front plaza and gateway.
Remember a few years ago when they put the Christmas lights down the Frontier Trail? I said back then that they should leverage that to the whole park, make a big deal about promoting summer nights at the park, stay open later, maybe even come up with special package deals for hotel stays, maybe even half-and-a-day admission plans like the Hersheypark evening preview plan. Of course back then, there wasn't a lot going on at the beach...
Anyway, I don't think I ever posted those ideas, but I remember talking about it with my 'posse'* because after all, summer nights are the best time to be in a park...and thanks to DST and people who like to get up early, summer nights are very short. I'm so happy the park seems to have come to the same conclusion that I did. I think this is a classically smart move.

* In other words, I had the idea, but there is absolutely no way the park got it from me... 8-)

It is great that they are making the beach an important part of the Cedar Point experience again. The beach was the start of it all, everything at the park today is there because a long time ago people enjoyed going to CP to swim.
They are doing a great job, the lake water is clean and refreshing and you can finally go into deep water to really enjoy taking a dip. All the beach activities add to the fun and energy. The Hotel Breakers is now a beautiful centerpiece. Cedar Point beach - unsalted and shark free.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
The beach was the start of it all, but back in the day a lot of people went there to drink -- to the extent that in 1900, in the face of a law banning the sale of liquor on Sundays, the company chairman announced Cedar Point would not open in 1901. George Boeckling convinced the board to re-open without alcohol and with upgraded facilities.
