Is this redundant if we're already having twitter push to our phone?

Probably - unless I forget to post a story to Twitter.

IFTTT checks the RSS every 15 minutes and if it sees a new item, it sends the alert. I started using IFTTT a while back. If you're new to it, you should check out some of the things you can do. But it just occurred to me today that I could use it to provide a service without having to do any additional work. :)
