Cedar Point is the best.

You are all probably thinking "duh", but I just love Cedar Point. My family (which consisted of my grandma, my mom, my cousin, two brothers, and me) headed off to Cedar Point & Six Flags Worlds of Adventure last year sometime in July. By the middle of the first day at Cedar Point, I think everyone agreed that this was our favorite vacation spot ever and vowed to come back yearly.

This means that there was something for everyone. While my cousin and I enjoyed all the coasters and thrill rides, my mom and grandma got kicks out of Paddlewheel Excursions (especially this; she loved the humor they used), Thunder Canyon, Giant Wheel, and everything else that was low-scale enough of them. My grandma especially loved the Michael Jordan IMAX film. She and one of my little brothers love him. They (my little brothers) also loved Wildcat and rode it over and over.

The park was a dream...and Summer Spectacular closed the night with a blast. Literally.

Then came SFWOA. Oh my, what a mistake. Don't get me wrong...SFWOA might be a good park to some people, but we just did not like it at all. I think Cedar Point should train their ride ops. I got so mad at the X-Flight ops...I know they are just doing their job; telling us we CANNOT where glasses, but that is just bullcrap. If I rode Millennium Force the previous day without my glasses budging, what makes them think X-Flight could? Ugh.

Then rides starting closing down. Raging Wolf Bobs was down forever and ever. I jumped in line for Serial Thriller. Finally got to the station. Someone puked on the ride. Oops. Took them 15 minutes to call someone to come clean it up. And when the finally did come, they were almost clueless as to what to do. I just sort of laughed to myself. Then I got on Batman: Knight Flight. The ride ops did not even pay attention to our train! The dispatcher (I think if I'm remembering correctly) was flirting with some girl as we pulled into the station. We sat there for nearly a minute before our restraints came up. How depressing.

It kind of ruined our whole vacation. We all wished that we would had saved Cedar Point for last. I'm very glad to say that we are returning this year, but thankfully dropping SFWOA. It was so funny; I had to rush to ride all the coasters (to add to my track record) so we didn't have to come back next year. Overall, I liked few of their coasters. In my opinion, Cornball Express is better than Villain, Kraken is better than B:KF, most things are better than X-Flight, and Wicked Twister will now be better than Superman Ultimate Escape! I did, however, enjoy the two classic woodies.

But anyhow, thanks Cedar Point for being so darn great! So, I'll see you at the world's greatest amusement park sometime in July and year after year, too! I guess as Jeff would say, see you on the midway!

Oh my...yet another Six Flags bashing thread. I was at Six Flags Worlds Of Adventure yesterday and I absolutely had a blast. Every ride (except Double Loop, but who cares?) was running and the most I waited was 30 mins, and that was for the Big Dipper! All the ride ops were working hard and doing a great job. I'm proud of them cause they finally got X-Flight to recline on the lift! :) Don't rule out SFWoA just because you had one bad day there. I mean, we all know Cedar Point has plenty of bad days. Sorry not trying to stir up the whole SFWoA vs. CP debate, but I think some people bash WoA just because it's a SF park. Did you guys ever go when it was Geauga Lake? Six Flags has done wonders to that park!

No! In no way am I bashing it just because it's a Six Flags park. I never said that. Six Flags Great America is my other home park and I love it a lot. I'm sure Six Flags did their part to make Geauga Lake even nicer than it was, but we just had a horrible time there. I think I should be able to have my own opinion on the park without making it into a bashing thread.
I just like how you waited to actually ride Wicked Twister before you said it was better than SUE.

Oh wait, you didn't.

Wow. Well nevermind then. I thought I would just give praise to the park. And about SUE, I actually meant to say it would probably be better, but like anyone would believe that now.

Could someone just close this post? I think I've made a mistake and I don't want a big bashing war to start.

It's okay, I'm in no way trying to put you down or anything. I'm just saying, SFWoA is a good park that you should try again. Seems like they have fixed a lot for this summer.

Possibly. I understand it's a new park (well, sort of) and they are still tweaking things...but like I said, we just had a horrible time and it felt like a waste. Maybe we'll give it a couple more years and then try it again.
simmer down kids :)

Believe me Eric, most, but not all, of the people here will agree with your views on SFWoA. As for myself, I love their collection of coasters (not as much as CP), but overall the park is very lackluster compared to the Point. The Villain is one of my favorite wooden coasters anywhere, Batman:KF is an awesome floorless, Superman is a great impulse, and X-Flight is unique. However, employees are a big problem, as is management. It just seems like a step below CP to me.

The thing is, the argument of SFWoA vs. CP is really becoming a worn-out topic here. There has been so much arguing and bashing in the past that a thread like this is kind of old to many. But it's cool that you shared your story and will be returning to CP! :)

Brent02...You are maybe one out of 500+ people on these boards that have ever said they had a good day at SFWoA...literally! This is the first I've ever heard them been praised. Between employees neglecting to attend to guests' needs, to piss-poor service they receive, SFWoA is not up to par with many parks. Ride-wise, Yes they have some great rides, but service-wise they perform very poorly. Dick Kinzel once said that he wants Cedar Point to be as efficient and guest friendly as possible so if one guest never has a chance to come back again, they still get the full park experience. This isn't possible at SFWoA with the huge amount of downtime on their coasters.

SF bought out Geauga Lake and invested, invested, invested in rides, but they failed to get a good management. A park is only as good as its workers, which is why Holiday World, Knoebel's, and Kennywood are so highly respected in the amusement industry. They don't have a lot of coasters, but they bring in the crowds with their superior atmosphere and guest service.

If Six Flags would replace their management with people that would listen to guests' complaints and crack down on their workers, they could easily complete with Cedar Point as a vacation resort, but until they do, they won't be able to touch Cedar Point...(notice the smear campaign SFWoA is running against CP)

Snoopy Rocks! On Ice starts June 22--Do you think they'll let me drive the Zamboni machine?

I want to drive the Zamboni!

Hehe, yeah I understand that. ;) I guess going to SFWoA is pretty much like riding the Mean Streak. Getting a good ride is a "crap shoot" but occasionally you can get that elusive smooth trim-free ride. I was just letting everyone know that it is possible to have a good day!

I was planning on going to SFWOA for a day out of my CP trip, but now I'm having second thoughts. My friend (who is a huge coaster freak) calls SFOWA a "sucky Six Flags." Should I do the deed and try SFWOA or should I stick with CP? I really enjoyed my CP visit last year and would enjoy several days there.
How many days do you have in your budget? If it is only two days, I'd say go to CP for both of them. If it is three days, I'd say go to CP for two and SFWOA for one. Anything more than three days, still go to SFWOA for one since its really not worth more. SFWOA does have some decent rides BKF, SUE, Villian, etc), but unfortunately, their operations leave alot to be desired. You'll probably either have a really good day or a really bad day there, but consistancy is lacking.

Interestingly enough, since Cedar Point now has an Impulse and Blue Streak is running better than it has in a decade, I don't have a single reason to get a Six Flags pass this year. :)

That's a good point Jeff. That leaves BKF as the only unique type of ride there and I like Raptor better. X-Flight is unique, but I was highly disappointed with that ride so I don't count that. :)

I'll admit it. I've had a good day at SFWoA. I've even had a good day at SFKK and many other "bad" parks. A lot of it is what you make of it. I just learn to laugh at rides like X-Flight and Chang with double-digit dispatch times.

I look at it this way; I'm at an amusement park with the person or persons I care about most. It beats the hell out of the alternative.

Without upstops, airtime would have a whole new meaning!

I first must say that I am very fortunate to have the best park in the world as my home park, Cedar Point. So now you know I am biased.

I used to be a big Geauga Lake fan until it started changing for the worse. When SF took it over it got worse. I refuse to pay money at that park.

I went to SFAmerica over this past weekend with major apprehension due to my experience at SFWoA. Boy was I surprised. That park was very clean, the garbage cans werent overflowing, the bathrooms were clean, the rides were maintained and didn't have smelly OTSR's, the staff was really friendly and helpful. I really liked the park and would go back in a heartbeat. Although it isnt the caliber of CP, it was a great park to visit.

It just goes to show you that management does matter in the quality of a park. SFWoA is awful, but their sister park isn't. So I don't feel as disgusted when someone says Six Flags, as long as Worlds of Adventure isnt behind it.

I'll chime in real quickly on the side of "SFWOA isn't that bad."

Admittedly, what I noticed was lacking was the service aspect of SFWOA. A ride-op on Big Dipper was screwing around with the other ride-ops over the loudspeaker talking about sex and breast implants and such and all I could think was "Wow.. and this line is more than half full of children." Also evident was the general slowness of the ride-ops. They just kind of drifted thorugh their responsibilities...

Now their ride options were good. The stuff they had from the wild side, combined with their flat rides and their coasters, among which I have 3 immediate favorites: BKF (intense, awesome, sensational), Villain (rode it once during the day, was mildly impressed... rode it at night and it blew me away! 3rd best woodie behind The Beast & Ghostrider that I've ridden), and Big Dipper (classic, insane coaster... this one really took me by surprise and it only got better at night). And the remaining coasters have only one weak spot, that being the boomerang.

All in all, the day I spent there was one well spent. That said, unlike CP, I wouldn't get a SP for SFWOA alone. It doesn't have enough to keep me coming back throughout the season. But, it's not total crap either. If they worked on getting their eomployee attitudes and efficiency even on the level that I saw at SFMM, they would be a park worth taking a couple trips to every season.
