-1. What aviation feat was completed at Cedar Point? By who? What year?

Glenn Curtis made the longest over-water flight of the time. The year escapes me, but I think it's around 1900. The plaque on the Coliseum near Park Ops commerates this.

-2. What is the oldest structure on the peninsula? When was it built? What is it now?

My guess is eitther the Cedars Hotel(employee dorms) or the Coast Guard station (in the boneyard, probably a warehouse or office now). Once again, around 1900

-3. When it was built, the Cedar Creek Mine ride broke a record, what was it?

Longest steel coaster? With 5 trains * 30 passengers, maybe highest capacity?

I'm not going to even guess on 4 or 5

They generally don't release attendance figures for competitive reasons. I know this because I asked the past two years. Still, I can say that those who know have told me it was around 3.5 million this year.

1. What aviation feat was completed at Cedar Point? By who? What year?

It was indeed Glenn Curtiss. 1910 was the year, and it was a 65 mile flight from Euclid Beach (Cleveland) to Cedar Point.

2. What is the oldest structure on the peninsula? When was it built? What is it now?

Well, I know the first thing ever built there was a bathhouse, but I don't know what the oldest thing that still stands is. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say the Grand Pavilion.

3. When it was built, the Cedar Creek Mine ride broke a record, what was it?

First coaster to top 48 feet? But seriously... how about the first mine car ride ever?

4. In what year did park attendance pass the 1,000,000 mark? 2,000,000? 3,000,000? What was the total park attendance for 1999?

Have to agree with Jeff on attendance figures. How would you know?

5. When was the Hotel Breakers recognized by the National Register of Historic Places?

1982.

Question 1 answer Glenn Curtis in 1910 from Euclid
Beach park in Cleveland to Cedar Point. Longest flight
over water at that time 65 miles.

Question 2 The oldest structure actually located
within park gates is the Grand Pavilin. Today it houses
the Coral Dinning room on the first floor. The second floor
is the Cedar Point Convention Center. It was built in 1888 by
by the Sandusky contractor A.G. Fettel. The name of the architect
was D.L. Stine of Toledo. But the oldest building on the peninsula
is the Cedar Point Lighthouse. It was built in 1838. But in 1867 it
was rebuilt. You might wonder where this is at. Well for those of you
who rode the Mean Streak to look at the Millennium Force track. It was
that house back in the bone yard. The light from the lighthouse was taken
down. But the house is still standing. There is a picture of the lighthouse in
Cedar Point the Queen of American Watering Places.

Question 3 When the Mine Ride was built in 1969 it was one of the first roller
coasters in the world to use steel tubular track. But it was the firt roller coaster
at Cedar Point to use steel tubular track instead of the traditional track used for a
coaster with a wooden structure.

Question 4 1960 for attendance of over 1 million guests. 1965 for attendance
over 2 million guests. I think that 3.6 million people visited Cedar Point in 1999.
I believe it was between 1969 - 1972 when over 3 million people visited Cedar Point.

Question 5 In 1982 the Hotel Breakers was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

That's my FINAL ANSWER!!! *** This post was edit by Matt on 12/1/99. ***
You guys beat me to it, I knew all of them but the half of question 4.

Man, they tripled attendance in a decade... That's incredible.
Why do I feel like even though we had many of the same answers, Matt kicked my butt from the Demon Drop to the Mean Streak?

Duane, the only one that he beat you on was #3

I guess that the question about total attendance should have been refined. Not sure why I asked wat the total attendance was for 1999.
