Spent a few minutes in the Cedar Point arcade on Sunday, and found myself in front of the row of 'crane' games next to the kid's ride area. Pulling out a quarter, I scanned the machines for a likely victim. At that point, I noticed the bright new signs proclaiming the price as 50 cents per try. Now, I usually throw away around 50 dollars per season on these games, just for the heck of it, but while a single quarter feels insignificant, 50 cents just feels like real money when trying to wrest a stuffed animal with a retail of less than $2.00 from their boxy tomb. So, instead of my $50 this year, they will likely collect $5 instead.
