Cedar Point: Cookie Cutter or Still Unique?

All chains are going to have a certain level of cookie cutter to them. As people have mentioned, there are only so many flat ride options available, and off the shelf roller coasters (boomerangs) do not have a very large footprint, which makes them ideal for many parks. I give Cedar Point credit for not having a single off the shelf roller coaster. The closest thing is Wicked Twister, but even that has it's own unique twists on both spikes, as well as height. I think Cedar Fair is attempting to make the main entrances to their parks memorable, what with the Gatekeeper, and Fury 325 additions in recent years. But even that isn't cookie cutter so much as it is a signature. Something that reassures you that yes, you are indeed entering a place full of world class thrills. I would like to see the entrance gate signature continue to other parks. I still see Cedar Point as being very much a unique park in many ways. Getting rid of all the outside chain food, with the exception of Pink's, would be wonderful. At least they haven't started advertising on their roller coasters yet. Every time I see a Six Flags picture, I want to vomit. I haven't been to a Six Flags park since 2003, but they just seem to have sold their soul to the corporate devils. Sadly, it started when they got in bed with DC, or Marvel, or whatever. Talk about a theme that has been beaten to death.

That's not exactly true...

Wildcat and Jumbo Jet were off the shelf, but right now, they have no off the shelf coasters. TriumphBonneville is correct as far as I know. Even Wicked Twister is a unique, custom model.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Woodstock Express? Pipe Scream? (I understand many folks wouldn't classify the latter as a roller coaster).

This article had some insight in the direction of the parks and how the parks are being branded towards their market. http://www.iaapa.org/news/funworld/funworld-magazine/cedar-fair-wri...april-2016

Raptor was cloned in Japan, but it was unique to Point when it opened.

Edit: Ride is currently located in France.

What I find unique is that every park in the Cedar Fair chain has something different about it and is World Class. For example, when you come to Cedar Point, you have 4 roller coasters that are above 200 feet. What other park out there has that? Rougarou is my new favorite at Cedar Point. Kings Island will always be my favorite though because I grew up with my family riding The Beast! There are other rides I grew up with too, but overall, Kings Island has more of that family atmosphere that I love!

Ahh, that's right, I stand corrected. Forgot about the kiddie coaster and I forget that Pipe Scream is a coaster, even though I accept CP's definition. :)

And that, Pete, is exactly to which I was referring. Right now they do not have an off the shelf roller coaster. Though I do admit that I was incorrect with that statement, as I forgot about Woodstock Express. But an off the shelf kiddie coaster being the only one in a park of this size is pretty impressive. And no, Pipescream, even though it is indeed a fun ride, is not a roller coaster.
