I've never had any issues with Geauga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom's Wave Pool.

That's what I am talking about^^^.Nobody wants to take personal responsabilty for things anymore. There were signs posted. They knew the risks, and yet they still decided to use the beach. Nobody forced them to swim at the beach.
Why should the state, or anybody else be at fault? SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK...That means exactly what it says.
It's gotten waaaaayyy out of hand in this country.
Absolutely agree. For a time I lived in Florida, gulf coast, and have seen some really dumb stuff from irresponsible people (signs all over and ads that advise you to shuffle your feet as you get in, but no one listens then wonders why they have the hole in their leg from a stingray). If you drown while swimming it's either because...
a) you can't swim and shouldn't be in the water without a strong swimmer with you
b)You shouldn't be swimming during storms/hurricanes or.
c) you're just not being smart.
Plain and simple. How many times has a lifeguard had to rescue a child because the parent isn't paying attention. Half of Americans want to go through life without having to make a conscious decision, and when something happens to them they sue. Case in point the woman who sued google maps because she walked down the middle of a road and got hit by a car, claiming google told her to. End rant.
About the wave machines, this isn't directed at you Rideman so please don't take offense. I had my arse handed to me by the one in Geauga Lake as a kid, I was standing at exactly the wrong spot, got slammed to the bottom and drug along the sandpaper. Guess what, it was my fault. (see comment "c") Sometimes I wonder if these careless people had their way the world would be covered with foam rubber

^If they open the beach up and let people have their space people could throw balls and play catch. And kids visit the beach too so let them splash and be kids. Its a frigin beach not a prison.
Let's Get Weird.
Kids splashing the water at a beach???...That's unheard of. The nerve of those darn kids. Where are the parents?
No throwing a ball on the beach? I thought if if was not for the cp beach, nute rokney(sp) would have never made it?Seriously, it's people having fun. We used to play footall in the water at our local beach, and there was never any issue.
These things are to be expected at any beach. If you don't like things like that...stay home.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Yeah the roping area is so ridiculous. Why not give us more room?
I don't know though, Lake Erie water was kind of gross when I went in a week or so ago.

I guess you can remove common sense from the american language.
Ironic post of the day.
Brandon
I was on the beach two weeks ago and several people were throwing balls around in the water and on the beach. If it was against the rules, I imagine the lifeguards would have said something.
I agree that it's total crap that liability is the way it is, but at the same time I don't fault the park for covering their butts.
It would be nice to actually see the beach from the park. Why they built Wicked Twister where they did, instead of a boardwalk atmosphere, is beyond me. Don't get me started on the warehouse known as DT.

The one at Dover Lake park (was that what it was called) was even more demanding.
Dover Lake was a great place! Too bad its closed now. Did you ever swim at Holiday Sands near Ravenna when you lived in Ohio? That was a great fun place too before it closed about 8 or 10 years ago.

Magnum XL200.
Kidding, I know what you mean.
Dover Lake was alot of fun, but I'm a snowboarder and the new add-on to the ski resort is just as fun :) I do miss the lazy wreck-river though! Some of it's still there, you can see it from the chairlift. If anyone is interested in a fun swimming place you might want to check out Clays Park down in Canal Fulton. It's not high-tech water stuff or anything, ziplines, a sort of log roll thing, slides and lots of other stuff to do. Is a cool place to relax and goof around on a weekend (when you're not at CP of course)

Pete, I remember being able to go out there and swim at night too. I am sure you can't do that anymore. I haven't been to CP's beach in well over twentuy years.

Yes, of course I knew what you "ment" (past tense of mint?). That's how I was able to recognize the irony.

This entire thread seems to be infected with awful grammar/spelling/composition. Maybe it's something in the Lake Erie water.
The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.
Speaking of the beach...ever since Soak City opened, I've wondered why they put such nasty, dirty, rocky sand in the volleyball / sunbathing area when they could have taken some of the nice clean sand from the natural beach located a couple hundred feet away.
