Edit: Actualy stardoors, the article says they will only be taxing the $7.50 parking fee and not the $.50 causeway fee.

$0.63 Parking Tax imposed by the city of Sandusky.

However, I don't agree with how they are being greedy and want to sponge of off Cedar Point. They need to get their act together and run the city correctly.
I am just throwing this out there to see what people think. If Cedar Point sues and there is a big problem stirred up between the Sandusky board and Cedar Point, do you think it could hurt thier relationship? What I mean is that the board approves almost anything the park submits. Do you think the board could get revenge and not approve rides in the future if Cedar Point wins a case against them? It may sound far fetched but i could see it happening since politicians are liable to try anything.
The town I live in has invented certain taxes and fees to help cope with the deficit. The most arcane law passed is the "fire hydrant rental" fee. Followed by a "wheel tax" on cars. It is, of course, to skirt the law enacted by the state government that limits the percentage of tax the city can impose on the residents.
I don't think Cedar Point wants to duck paying their fair share of taxes, but I think they are unfairly being singled out. Cedar Point guests and employees already generate alot of tax revenue by the amount of money spent locally in motels, bars and restaurants and shopping centers. I would be curious to see what the tax revenues look like after all the pointers go home for the season!

Where in the articles does it say that it's only taxing the parking fee and not the causeway toll? I read the articles and didn't see that part. Also, if it was just taxing the parking ($7.50) it would be a tax of 60 cents. The whole $8.00 would have to be taxed to get 64 cents. Not trying to cause trouble, but I just didn't see that part in the articles and the math doesn't add up! :)

It's in the tenth paragraph. Quoted from the article: "However, it appears the tax will be imposed only on $7.50 of the parking cost, because 50 cents is a toll to pay for maintenance of the Cedar Point Causeway, the city and park officials said."

I doubt that the city will be able to keep the tax imposed for very long. Unfortunately, legal action can take some time as Gemini stated, so for the time being, those without parking passes will have to deal with 64 cents. Since Cedar Point has already advertised that parking is $8 do you think they will just absorb the tax? Seems unfair now to raise the parking price.------------------

I wish that would be true but I could see Cedar Point making the toll 8.50.

It is also too bad that the one council member has the attitude that "if you don't want to pay the tax, don't go." I wonder if he would have a job if CP was not around.
