If all you want is to be back after a long offseason, it's a great day to walk around, get a few rides in and visit with park friends you may not have seen since October or Winter Chill Out.
But ride availability is spotty, operations are slower, lots of closed food & beverage locations which can lead to crazy lines at those that are open.
I love Opening Day for the reasons I listed above. But I also know it's very much a "walk around and snag a few rides" day that often ends with Thirsty Pony and a delay of breaking in the new meal plan until later in the month.
