2007,2008 Ripcord
I went the last week of May last season and it was open 10-10. Now I have to wait till the second week of June just to get a 10-10 day?
Oh well.

No, instead we'll just delete the posts for wasting space.

Interesting. I find it odd that the park is closed on September 11-12. Maybe somebody has rented out the park on those dates like this past September??? Also, the legend shows a deep purple color with the hours of noon-8, but I don't see any days colored deep purple on the calendar. Just a few observations.
The buy out would be a good guess, considering the Honda buy out was on the same weekend this past season.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I can't imagine how much it would cost to rent out the whole park! It would so neat to be able to do that!
Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs
I'm guessing that Cedar Point's operating schedule figures heavily on school schedules in Michigan and Ohio. I don't know about Ohio, but Michigan state law extends summer vacation through Labor Day. Compare that to my son's school--here in Indiana--which typically has him returning to classes in mid August. I can understand the 8:00 p.m. closing during the first week in June, as I'm assuming many schools in the area are still in session. My son and I were at Cedar Point for most of the first week of June this past season, and it was not very busy. Good for us. Bad for Cedar Point. I loved the 10:00 p.m. closings, but Cedar Point--like any other business--must make decisions based on the bottom line.
I love going to the park in early may and even early June because they are not so busy. Walk on rides all day and night gotta love it. Damn i cant wait till May 16th going to be a great day. Her is my forecast for Saturday May 16 2009 in Sandusky OH,
Morning - - - - - Partly Cloudy 65 degrees
Afternoon - - - - Sunny 71 degrees
4pm - - - - - - - Sunny 75 degrees
Evening - - - - - Mostly sunny 70 degrees
That is my weather prediction. No if only that was tomorrows forecast id be really happy.

Does anyone else find it strange that the first week in June has 8 P.M. closings? They didn't do that last year, did they?
I am really gonna be enjoying the new hours for the 09 season. That is exciting that the park is open til 1 am.

Nope, last year in June had 10pm closings for Sunday to Friday and 11pm closings on Saturdays for the entire month.

Not only did the first week of June last year have 10 P.M. closings, the last week of May also had 10 P.M. closings.
Although the park was not crowded at all during most of those days, hopefully they will change it, which is unlikely. :(

Interesting to note that Kennywood is opening a full two weekends before CP this year:

I'm too lazy to look it up, but I'm guessing this is probably about as wide a gap as it gets between CP's opening day and Kennywood's.

There is still time, maybe Cedar Point will change their mind and open earlier than May 16. Just being optimistic here.
Kennywood is not on a breezy point in the middle of a lake
This Isn't A Hospital--It's An Insane Asylum!
No, but Kennywood typically opens the first Saturday of May, which Cedar Point has also frequently opened on. CP is now opening later than at almost any time in modern operating history, while KW is still opening pretty much right when it always did. So the weather obviously isn't the biggest factor in the decision.
