Cedar Point 1959

While everyone is speculating about the future of Cedar Point let me return to it's history for a moment.  I think most people are familar with the fact that Cedar Point was purchased in the late 1950's with the intention of it being made into a residential area and then after public outcry the new owners changed their minds and pledged to turn it into the "Disneyland of the Midwest".  I have found some evidence that at least for a while they planned on doing both.

I collect Cedar Point paper and recently purchased a 1959 Brochure on eBay.  The brochure has a crude map of the new Cedar Point and a written description of the changes for the upcoming season.  Most of the verbage is about the new marina, but it also mentions that the lagoons will be widened for the use of the new residents.  At the site of the Sandcastle Suites there was to be boat mooring basins for the residents.  Also mentioned is a new bathouse an a redesigned amusement section with a new roller coaster.

The coaster is shown on the map as being to the southwest of where the old Cyclone once stood.  I can't really make out any other rides, although it looks like the turnpike cars are there, they may have been there previously.

Pretty interesting, like I said I had never heard of the plan of the residential area and a new amusement area at the same time before.  Anyone have any additional info?

If I remember from CP: QoAWP, it mentioned that they wanted to build a new coaster (Blue Streak) back in 1959, but they didn't have enough money to start the project...someone correct me if I'm wrong.
