Hey guys! Some of you may know me as the Luminosity camera guy and maybe seen some of my videos on YouTube. Well, I created a new video as part of a class project that looks into the process of replacing railroad ties on the CP&LE R.R. and figured some of you may be interested in checking it out. The link is posted below. Hope you enjoy it!
Nicely done! I had no idea what that process was. Looks like hard work.

Yes, Very nice video. I also give a lot of credit to the C.P. maintenance people who work hard everyday to keep the rides working.
Very entertaining video. Thanks for sharing.

I have to ask - why not bring the new railroad tie with you so you didn't have to make two trips?

My five year old loved it- he is going to build his own railroad now. He's glad they finished in time for the season to open so we can ride it next weekend.
I shared it with my husband and Dad too.
Very informative, keep up the nice work! Neat to see what happens in the off season to keep things running smoothly!
Thanks for all the positve feedback! I really appreciate it!
And to answer 45Wheelgun's question, the crew actually replaced many ties that day and did some other work on the track. I just focused on the one tie for the video. That's why they never took one out with them. They picked it up after a break. The magic of editing ;)
Hey, has anyone noticed that it's a very long wait for the train? I asked why they were still running only one train and they said that it will probably be that way for most of the season because there are not enough engineers for two trains this year. That's sad!

I hope that isn't true. I just thought it was because it isn't that busy yet.

I was browsing the CP&LE RR chat page and it seems there is a shortage of help. How long does it take to train an engineer/conductor for that job?
Engineers are fireman in training. It typically takes an entire season to properly train and give a fireman experience. And, yes they are very shorthanded this year. They probably won't be running two trains until July and only on the weekends.

Cory, just had a chance to check this out for the first time, and I just wanted to say great job! It never ceases to amaze me how much work goes into keeping the rides operational and safe at Cedar Point, and I've always been particularly fond of the train at Cedar Point.
While there are a some parks out there that have trains that rival Cedar Point's, they seem to be few and far between, and I love seeing it highlighted. Very impressed!

I'm curious as to why they would be short staffed? If I had more time in my schedule, I would volunteer to work on the CP & LE RR. My Grandfather was an engineer on the New York Central so I grew up around trains.

My brother text me last night and said the train now shuts down at 8pm....hours of noon-8pm, He wasn't happy, including the rest of the people that they were turning away. Anyone have any info on this? It was always 10am-park closing after the big screen was taken down.

If true, this is pretty disappointing, especially combined with one train operation. I understand the RR team is doing what they can with what they have, but it's disappointing nonetheless.

The reason for the restricted hours of operation is because of lack of a full time supervisor. The only full time supervisor recently left to return home before returning to school. Thus we lack the proper staff to run full operation. We recently replaced his position and should have full operation again later next week. I currently work as an engineer on the railroad.
