Cedar Fair Websites/Apps

Has anyone else here noticed that Cedar Fair has gone backwards this year in terms of embracing technology?

The great MyPark app is no longer available and hasn't been updated, and I don't care for the new app.

My major problem is with their park websites. If I want to buy tickets to the park(s) or even food, I am unable to, unless I use a desktop or laptop computer, and download or enable Adobe Flash. I would think the park would not want to put up barriers to giving Cedar Fair money.

Luckily, today I found out that Guest Services will sell you the meal deals without a service fee, and without the need to find a computer with Flash.

EDIT:
I just noticed another beautiful thing about the site. If you go to try to download the mobile app, it gives you a QR code instead of a link. How do I take a picture of my iPad or iphone using my own iPad/iPhone?

I have the "ride watch" app. It seems to be pretty neat, but can sometimes be mis leading since all the info is all user entered.

I like the new website. It is somewhat similar to the amazing website Cedar Point had in 2009. However, I do agree that it very annoying to not be able to purchase tickets and such when using an Ipad (the one reason why I hate Apple mobile products, they lack Flash). I feel the application for Android and Itunes is a huge improvement of last years. The interface is very nice and fresh, customers can buy tickets and book hotels on it, and looks similar to the website. I have not experienced the problem with the QR Codel I believe the app is available at the Market and Itunes Store.

It should not be that hard to hand over your money to the park. I only have an iPad, also.

It's absolutely adorable that you're blaming CF for using a ubiquitous technology, rather than Apple, who is among a tiny minority that refuses to support Flash.

I suppose that's life inside the Reality Distortion Field...

+1, dj. Sounds like its time for an upgrade to Android.

Well, so long as it's not running Jellybean. ;)

Although, given Android's fragmentation, the number of devices running 4.1 will be microscopic for a year or two, probably.

Not that this non-ICS'd Galaxy S2 owner is bitter or anything...

Me too...running Gingerbread on the HTC Rezound, still no ICS update.

Not having Flash installed on a computer is a freeing experience. I highly recommend everyone try it. For those rare occasions where it is necessary, Google Chrome has a nice sandboxed version that works just fine without mucking up the rest of my OS.

I absolutely agree with Sam. This is 2012. There is no need to use Flash for an online shopping cart.

While I understand that Flash is less necessary every day, I've not noticed its presence in years, so I'm not sure I'd notice the freeing sensation.

Agreed that Flash should not be used for an online shopping cart, but I haven't noticed Flash doing anything bad to my system either. Doesn't seem to be a resource hog or mess anything up on either my Mac or Windows machine.

I did have resource issues, not to mention the constant security updates.

I would make an Apple joke here, but I don't wanna get sued. ;)

I really don't miss having the "Update Flash Now!" constantly pop up. Oh those were the days.

Didn't I read that Adobe is discontinuing Flash for Android?

I'd hardly call Flash ubiquitous anymore.

I suppose that is life stuck in 1999!

EDIT: I didn't realize that 65% was considered a minority!! Don't you just love our educational system?

That 65% is mobile only. Educational system indeed.

Brandon

And mobile is where Apple refuses to support Flash. Flash is available for OS X, and used to be included with it. So yes, mobile is the key here.

PC-s are passé. Mobile is the important platform now when it comes to consumers.

My point was that your assertion that CF is "backwards" because a few Apple customers can't buy tickets on their iPad/iPhone is just plain silly. In fact, I don't know a single iPad owner who doesn't have a full-fledged computer nearby.

I agree that CF should have a proper mobile app, but that doesn't mean they're technologically ignorant.

I think we are forgetting that the Flash discussion revolves around the Cedar Point website, not the mobile phone apps. Both the iOS and Android phone apps are proper mobile apps and the shopping carts work fine. No need to open a web browser on an iOS or Android device, just get the app.

Didn't realize you could buy from the app, but it isn't working anyway, as the app thinks my phone is offline. My phone is working fine. Other apps are accessing the Internet fine.

Plus, I am unaware of an iPad app for Cedar Point.

Anyway, I do think Cedar Point has gone backwards when it comes to technology, since Tony left.
