Cedar Fair Parks

Just a few days ago, while on the Cedar Point Official site, I decided to actually look at the bottom of the page and hit the cedarfair.com link which took me to websites for all of the other parks that Cedar Fair owns. While looking at the site for Dorney, while being a much smaller park in just about any statistic feasible, I began to feel a bit cheated. Now, I'm not a long-time coaster fanatic. I'm a newborn (birthdate: August 1, 2000) at all of this stuff. Until recently I thought that we were "special" for having Cedar Point. I had always thought there were no other "Cedar Points" out there. Now I know they don't have the same name or anything, but I still felt kinda cheated in the fact that a ride at Cedar Point could just as easily be built at another Cedar Fair park. I mean, I feel like Cedar Point was kinda like a brother. A very gifted one. But now I find out that there are little brother's of his out there. While I used to feel special about having the RAPTOR, now I feel as if well, Dorney's getting a Raptor also, just calling it Talon. I don't know if I'm making any sense. If any of you feel the same, or different, let me know. I'll always stay true to Cedar Point, but what bother's me is what makes CP so special to the Cedar Fair Co.? What's stopping them from curtailing our further advancement in rides to fulfill a surge in them at their other parks? Sorry for the long post, but I needed to get this out!

First of all, the similarities between Raptor & Talon aren't really all that much more than between Talon & Great Bear, or most other B&M inverts for that matter. It isn't a *clone* like Six Flags puts into their parks, it's different. Now that that's cleared up...

What makes Cedar Point special to Cedar Fair?
Well, for one it's their flagship park, it was the first and it's the biggest. It's probably the most well-known of Cedar Fair's parks, and it certainly brings them in a lot of cash, which is obviously good for them. They aren't going to STOP putting new rides in at Cedar Point - they have a reputation established with it - but they are going to put rides in at their other parks, and that's great too! It's something we should be thankful for, not something that should upset us (as an enthusiast community - most GP probably have NO idea that Cedar Point has any other parks affiliated with it - as evidenced by your prior knowledge).

Cedar Point is a unique park in many aspects, a traditional amusement park with a great reputation. You have to remember though, Cedar Fair has a lot to look after now. They have to spread themselves equally among all of their parks, especially the ones that need more development. Rather than looking at this from the "It's hurting Cedar Point" viewpoint, let's look at it like "It's helping Cedar Fair" and how can anything that helps Cedar Fair as a whole hurt Cedar Point?

Thanks for cheering me up a little Backstreet Girl. It was getting late last night and I was a bit cranky. I know I should be very happy about having their trademark park near by, and I truly am. It was just the feeling of wait, so, there's other "cedar points" out there?? **shock** and then No, there can't be...cedar fair only cares about cedar point...they wouldn't build coasters other than here. **denile** Ok, well, as long as they don't put better rides elsewhere, its ok. **realization and understanding** So anyways, thankyou for putting it all in perspective for me. :-)

There is only one Cedar Point, but the other Cedar Fair parks are very nice also. I enjoyed Dorney quite a bit. Talon looks like it will be an outstanding ride. It'll probably have a different feel than Raptor because it's a little bit of a tighter layout. Cedar Fair is building business in parks like Dorney, and they are doing a good job at it. As Natalie said, what's good for Cedar Fair is also good for Cedar Point. I'm probably visiting Dorney this summer and am looking forward to Talon very much.
Its all about the money and location. If a park is located between New York and Philidelphia is going to get a lot of money because of the population. Like CP is in between Toledo, Clevland, and Detroit; so it makes a lot of money. However other CF parks like WOF are not in a heavily populated area, and therefore don't make as much money to build new rides and attractions. So, like Jeff said..."Location Location Location.
