Cedar Fair off-season.

I was just curious what does Cedar Fair office employees do during the off-season up there in Sandusky, Ohio? I know one of them is planning, but what else do they do? Forgive me if this is a stupid question.

Office employees specifically? Most do paperwork all winter long in preparation for the upcoming season. Budgeting, looking over applications, training documentation, ordering, etc. Its a very boring, 9-5 type of job once winter hits when you work in an office.

They make videos with Tony for Christmas and World Series bets during the off season.

Work 40 hour weeks for a change.

Paperwork and hire for the upcoming season. They start hiring in January, so it's pretty soon.

Once they retirn from there Holiday break, I am sure the Marketing Department is busy preparing for the 2018 season. Oh and there is a little thing called Winter Chill Out that is happening sometime in February that will require some preparation.

Also, the merchandise department orders their merchandise, the food department orders their refillable cups and orders their first round of plastic straws, etc. There is a lot preparation, cleaning, and set up the park than what the average Joe knows about.

I worked set up crew for merchandise for a couple of years. We would get there March / April to set up all the various stores. Even the ride department would get there early to clean the rides and test the rides. Other departments would set up and prepare their locations as well.

^ Since I have this topic up, does everyone in the Cedar Fair office get to have meetings on what's to come as far as new rides at different parks? Just curious

I would assume only Project mgt would discuss those. I am not sure someone in say umm Marketing would get to be in those meetings until after they decide what they are bringing in. But who knows I don't work there. Less ears / eyes the better it will stay a secret.

If you work at Cedar Point in a corporate position that would deal with a new attraction or often do work for other parks in the chain then yes you may be involved at some point. The likelihood is small though but it can happen.

While we're on this topic, what are "normal" hours during the season? Surely every employee is not there from park open - park close every day of the week. I am curious what Jason and Tony's hours are.

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

I am not really sure what there hours are but I am assuming they are salary and are just there from Open till whenever they want after peak times of the days.

They are there when they need to be there. They dont have set or scheduled hours. They usually get a day off during the week. All the Cedar Point staff put their time in particularly from early April through mid-November.

Ive seen Jason/Tony and all other management staff walking around the park at all hours of the day and night. Im sure working at Cedar Point is special but its also a grind that demands a strong work ethic.

Most office staff still works 9-5. People like Tony will try to work an 8 hour day but will shift their time depending on the needs of the department. But departments like Finance, Planning & Design, etc still keep a 9-5 because park hours do not impact their operation.
