Cedar Fair interested in Six Flags Astroworld Houston

As noted in the News section, Cedar Fair is interested in Six Flags Astroworld in Houston which is currently for sale. Would this be a good/smart move for Cedar Fair? How about any other Six Flags parks that may come available?

Not to be uncaring or cruel, but I think they may wait to see if it floats away or not.

Hey - maybe they can get a discount after this weekend... ;)

EDIT: I wouldn't worry too much about being cruel. Its not like hurricanes are new to the area or anything. For the people down there... hmmm... how do I say this... it's sorta like moving to the North Pole and getting all upset when it snows, IMO.

What is with the 10 topics saying the same thing?

Some sort of glitch?

I guess they have to take there chances! The big attractions in Florida manage just fine when a hurricane comes through!

But i think CF will do just fine there w/ the heavy population but isn't Six Flags over Texas close by?

Close? Maybe by Texas terms its close. Houston is at least 3 hours from Dallas/Ft. Worth, more than far enough away, but really, I would rather the park be about an hour outside of Houston to draw not only Houston, but people that may be going to SFOT from places like College Station and that area. I have family that live in Dallas, and I drove to San Antonio, which is a 5 hour drive, and Houston is a bout 4-5 hours from San An. It really kind of creates a population triangle if you think about it.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

They need to worry abput one Six Flags blunder before they pick up another one...

If Geauga Lake never ends up being profitable what do you wager will be done with it?

Do you think they would just level it and sell it for housing or do you think there is yet another amusement park company that would try and tackle GL?

I don't understand why people are not flocking to GL. The price is right now other than the parking.

The funny thing is, the ones who aren't going and haven't been since CF took it over will be the first ones on Channel 5 boo-hooing about their "memories being bulldozed" if it ever comes down to the place being leveled one day.

CF should just wait till Six Flags puts up SF Over Texas up for sale. Seeing as the whole freaking company is up for sale why not just wait and get a park thats bigger, better and more centrally located in the state, instead of a park that has parking and land issues with Reliant Stadium. Also SF:AW might not be useable for a long time after this weekend.

I think CF is planning on fixing up some up Astroworld as they are with Geauga Lake, if they buy it. Which could in the longrun be better for CF.

Read the article. Synder says that CF is interested. CF didn't say that they were. Everybody in the business knows that the Astroworld situation is a no win one. With the stadium authority controlling the parking, events happening at their venues take precendent over AW parking. The numbers have steadily declined since this scenario developed. The land is far more valuable than the park to SF. Move the rides that can be, bulldoze the rest and sell the real estate to a developer. They rid themselves from a money pit and get a sizable cash infusion to put towards their ever increasing debt.

Synder is afraid that this move will lesson the inate value of the corporation, making his interest in worth less (i.e. fewer assets). This the reason for the gradstanding he's doing now.
