As everybody knows Maverick has a western theme and at Valleyfair they are getting Renegade which has a little bit of a western theme. Is that something Cedar Fair is striding for or is it just coincidence?
Well, out at Knott's the whole park is a western theme (except for the 50's midway). Not sure if it's a coincidence about it spreading through the chain though. Of course, what else could you theme Maverick to and make it fit in Frontier Town?
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Even Disney has a western themed section. It's not a trend, it's just standard for a park.

It's standard because of it's importance in the history of America. It was a completely different world back then.
Nah, that was your imagination MrScott....now that they installed Maverick, Frontier Town is western themed.
Before it was an outer space close encounters of the 4th kind type theme. Didn't you see the movie? ;)

Ride on, MrScott!
HMMMM, just what I suspected, slanty eyed aliens wearing assless chaps overtaking the glass blowing theater.

No, it's standard because it's cheap and you never have to paint anything.

Money is an important factor that plays a pretty big role. It isn't always the determinate factor. Why would parks choose a western theme over cheaper options both initially and in the long term?
Cheaper options? Like a stone age theme? There's nothing exciting about wheels and fire, really.
Now, guns, horses, prostitutes and beer - that's a recipe for family fun. :)

Assless chaps? Those would sell through the ROOF on Father's Day!
Let's add a bordello and a violent gunfight for a whole "Deadwood" theme!! :)
Six Flags used to do parking lot themes, and they did them really well.

Assless Chaps would be a good name for a punk band.
I once saw a punk bad called "The Bloody Dung Babies" now that was quite interesting to say the least.
^ I shudder to imagine the stage show. Did they throw real bloody dung babies into the audience, or only mock-up bloody dung babies?
