CCMR restraints question

notice that the platform on the unload side extends all the way through the tunnel. That's the unload platform, uptrack of the station.

Are you referring to the tunnel that you enter just after leaving the current load/unload station, just before turning left to enter the lift?

That's why it took thirteen people to run the ride...ten of them kicking pedals and pushing the train out of the load station on dispatch.

Pete could tell you more about it...

Corkscrew is like that also isn't it(with the restaint release)?

Crash and Demon, the unload station, Rideman was talking about is the tunnel that you wait in at the end of the ride (now the ready brake) while the train ahead is dispatched. The other tunnel before the lift is actually the transfer table and storage track.

Oh, and I would also like to know if they actually had to push the trains out in the past. I was under the impression that the trains were moved through the station by gravity like most Arrow coasters. *** Edited 8/26/2004 1:52:04 AM UTC by Coasterfan***

The trains are propelled by gravity through the station, but I know pushing the trains was common practice on the ride many years ago. I don't know if it was a matter of necessity or of showmanship, or a little of both.

i worked thunder canyon in 87 and they used to run 4 trains back then, and yes they had to push the trains out of the station to avoid shut downs because as one train was exiting the station the other was already coming in.

Have they only been regularly running with 2 trains on CCMR this season?

I'm not even sure the 3rd train is even on the track right now.
They do run 3 trains on mine ride when the line is long enough. On Monday I was in line and on train #1 the foot petal broke that locks the lapbars so they had to switch trains and they brought out train #3. So then it was just trains 2 and 3 running. *** Edited 8/26/2004 8:15:20 PM UTC by randinator***
I was there in early August and they did have three trains on. As a result, when there was a delay in loading and the second train stopped on the ready brake, part of the group I was with got stuck on the second lift until the brake was cleared.

That explains when walking by the ride, I've noticed a train stopped on the second lift on more than one occasion.

All I know is the restraints can be quite painful for some of the middle guest which aren't huge, but aren't in a way skinny. This is the case especially when riding with all skinny people, and the ops use all their body weight on the restraint to lower it more. I would love to see Magnum/Gemini type restraints on this.
Kinda off topic, but i remember a few years ago me and my dad were waiting in line and two teenagers were coming in from the ride and their seatbelt wasn't on and it was hanging OUT of their train!

CoasterLine, at Paramounts Kings Island there's a ride called Adventure Express. It's similar to CCMR, and it has the same restraint system as Magnum, but without the seatbelt.

As far as pushing the trains. In the morning in spring and late summer when it is chilly out. The ride operators have to go to the ride at least an hour before usual. They have to weight the trains down with bags filled with washers. This is all done in the transfer station. The only way to get a train going from that point is to push it and pray it makes it to the lift. At night it is the same thing. If you stop the train to soon or too late. Over or before the yellow lines on the track. You have to hope the other two people can push the train to the right spot. That was how it was in 2002 when I worked that ride. I assume that is still how it is.
