Catwalk Span?

The 7th catwalk has been installed and we can all see from the Demon Drop Cam as well as Power Tower, that they all appear to be the same distance from each other, can anyone tell me (in feet) what they feel the distance from each catwalk to catwalk is? 35, 40, 45, 50.........
If I get that #, I think I can guess the final height within 25 feet for myself. Afterall, it looks like there's only one more catwalk to come.

Any thoughts? It would be great if you can also use a reference (other ride, photo) to come up with the number.

Last I recalled reading, the general consensus was that there is about 55 feet between horizontal crossmembers.
I read that too, but what are those people using as a reference? I think that # is a little high. And don't give me that stuff about horizon an what not. Geez, you could make Mantis higher than Magnum with horizon angles.

My only reference is the hight of the catwalk fence (approx 4 feet), if that is true, I feel 55 feet is too high.

Each level should be between 50-52 feet tall. If you want to know how I know, go to the "coaster final height" thread and read Mach1's post on the third page and mine on page 8. Also, you should read the posts by jdubya in that thread as well.
You can use the horizon as a gage for determining height in a 2D pic of a 3D image. The horizon forms what is called a Vanishing Point which lines up with the height of the camera and everything else on that plane. This is not something made up by anyone here. It is a law of geometry that is used by artists to draw realistic pics and used to study photographs. You can read about this rule at these sites:

I'm going with 40 ft sections that will bring the heigth to the 330 ft level which is what I said weeks ago

The final weekend the park was open, only 5 levels were done. That would put the height then at only 200, but everyone that went was saying that it was significantly higher than Magnum by then. Not only did the 50-52 feet per level conclusion come from the horizon analysis of two different webcams, but it also matches the majority of the eye-witness reports and also with the majority of predictions of the final height, now that it pretty obvious that we are getting 8 levels. The news release by coasterglobe.com was soooo wrong. Trust me, the levels are higher than 40 feet each.

50 feet per level. The top catwalk is 350 feet tall, and the back spine is 375.

Actually, as of closing day, there were only 4 catwalks up, with the back spine going just a little higher than the last catwalk. At that point, the structure was about even with Magnum, maybe a little higher. That would put each section at 50-55 feet.

It was higher than Magnum closing weekend.. I was up Magnum the following Monday doing tear-out.

It was alot taller than most people thought at that point..

As of closing day their were 5 catwalks up and completed. At that time it was higher than Magnum...

I think 50-55 ft. is a good guestimation.

Here is a pic from the last weekend with 5 catwalks up:

Construction Sequence:

As of 10/7 - 3 catwalks up

10/17 - 4th catwalk raised

10/22 - 5th catwalk raised

11/20 - 6th catwalk raised

12/3 & 12/4 - 7th and final catwalk places in two pieces.

If anyone's interested.

I dont know it sounds right but when i was there last weekend... on the causeway and from across the bay there was seven catwalks and it looked only slightly taller than MF. I know its in a different area but i dont know what to think about the the height still

did someone say earlier in some other thread that there were going to be 8 catwalks and at 55 feet apart that would make the top 440 plus the height of the track above

Well, You can definatly see that there will be an 8th or even a 9th level. The end will be when the Huge weird looking piece is put up. That i think is the end of the tower. I dont think they are 55 feet apart. Since the height is at about 350-375.

I can see the possibility of a 9th level, Dennis. I have assumed that the tabletop piece would be mounted directly atop the odd piece when the columns come together. Maybe they have a vertical strut that will raise the tabletop up another 40'-50'. They may need the extra height to complete the 270 deg twist coming down. The track they have erected on that side appears to twist maybe 135 deg at most. They need to put up the rest of the twist plus the top hat. They could very well need more height than we thought. 7 levels at 55' plus 45' to the odd piece plus 40' to the tabletop piece gets it to 470'. With a nice flagpole, this ride may reach 500' yet.

(BTW - 7 levels in 375' is almost 54')

Fat Chris mentioned last weekend he saw the 7th catwalk and it was a little taller than MF. I don't agree because the 7th catwalk wasn't completed until Tuesday 12/5. I hope what he really saw was the 6th which would make the spans between the catwalks approx. 50ft. Thus confirming the 400 foot potential of this ride.

Thanks to all for responding to my topic.

Really, yesterday was the 5th? According to my watch today, Wednesday, it is the 4th. :)
