Castaway Bay Question

A simple question about Castaway Bay that I couldn't find when I searched for it.

How do rafts get from the base of Master Blaster to the top?

Water Jets I think.

101 on Magnum and counting...

I would guess that you will carry it. It is not that high and the rafts won't be that big.

It could also be done using a conveyor belt, similar to what MIA does on the Hydroblaster. When you get off the raft, an op picks it up and puts it on the conveyor.

Th travel channel had a great show on water parks and mentioned the some facts about Schliterbahn's master blaster. Master Blasters have high powered water jets that force water upwards until it loses it speed, then there are place along the route that allow the stale water to fall out of the way. Most of the master blasters i have seen start out ground level the shoot riders up.

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.

It's only a two person raft right? I bet they just have to carry them.

Does anyone know for sure if you have to carry them, if there's a conveyor, or if there's water jets?

I know the original one has a belt but since CP's is smaller you probably will have to carry it *** Edited 10/22/2004 11:13:45 PM UTC by CPFan420***

.. you won't have to carry it..

If you read Monty's diary entry from 7-26-2004 ...

The Master Blaster® uphill water coaster’s wood-grained trough snakes overhead. If you look closely you can pick out the conveyor that will carry the rafts to the top of the ride.

If anyone gets to visit Castaway Bay, it is quite a nice place. On the backside of Splash Zone there is a conveyor belt with a blue half cover (similar to what Zoom Flume has). The tubes do hold either 1 or 2 people and at no point should any guest or any employee ever have to pick up a raft. When you exit the raft at the bottom it will continue through the ride toward the conveyor belt.

Hopefully this gives some enlightenment to everyone that was wondering. Also, take a look at the themeing that has been put into that place - CP really did a great job putting this together.

Yeah they did, I'm a lifeguard at castaway and have spent last week training there, and I'm REALLY impressed with what they did. DEFINATELY worth a stay, so long as you aren't an employee, cause we aren't allowed in the waterpark at all unless we are working. The master blaster "Rendeuves Run" (I'm pretty sure that I spelled that wrong, feel free to correct me) is very fun! I've ridden it a few times and I really love it, espically the first half. The Tropical Tube Slides (the ones that stick out the building) are also ALOT of fun. I haven't been in all three, but hopefully that'll change. Yes, there is a conveyor belt from unload, to a set of rollers that brings it around to load. It's pretty cool, it all runs on sensors and has blocks too, although they call them "zones" it's that same basic thing. The first "zone is from the first hill, untill the second set of water jets, where there is cargo netting, the second "zone" is the other half of the ride. And if there are too many tubes on the rack outside of load, it'll block stop the rafts on the conveyor. THe wave pool is also really cool, it's smaller than soak city's, but it's still alot of fun. Also, all the last minute touches really are making the place look amazing. I can't say enough about how impressed I was walking into castaway. And the fire alarms there (they were testing them durring our training) are SWEET! Normally I wouldn't care as long as they sound... but they are really loud... and after the initial "beeping' it says something like "ATTENTION ATTENTION an emergency has just been reported" in a really sweet voice, hopefully I never hear it again, but it was cool.
