Hello Everyone, first post here! First time going to Cedar Point also. We are going to be a group of 7, 5 adults and 2 children (10 & 6) and we were looking at Castaway Bay since it seems the only resort to accomodate our group in one suite. Any feedback on this resort would be appreciate or any other suggestions would be welcome. I like to do my research from "people in the know" and I've found that these discussions boards are more informative than any other resource. TIA
I've stayed at Castaway Bay twice, and I was very happy with the overall experience. The primary focus of the place is the indoor waterpark.
The two times I've stayed there were both weekdays during Halloweekends when Cedar Point was closed. What I'm saying is I wouldn't even think of staying there while Cedar Point is open. I'd rather be "on Point." So while I haven't stayed at Lighthouse Point, I'd probably agree that it's worth a look.

With 5 adults and 2 children, you can fit.
2 kids in the loft (they'll love it) then that leaves 2 futons and 1 bed. Provided your adults are made up of couples (i.e. 2 people who don't mind sleeping together) you'll have no trouble. If its all singles, it might take some finagling to get it to work, but it should.

Any truth to the rumor that staying at Lighthouse Point cures cancer? ;)
"Getting it" or not, let's not assume that everyone's best experience is in a cabin. Should they just level the Breakers and build more cabins and cottages?
Very true, while Lighthouse Point may be nice I much prefer the hotel experience.
To answer the original question, I've stayed at Castaway Bay and had a very nice experience. The water park is beautiful, with a very nice mix of slides, rides and pools. The rooms were recently updated and were clean and pleasant to be in.
The amenities seem to be heavily oriented towards children, with not that much for adults to do after the water park. There is a TGIFridays that is part of the complex where adults can go for a few cocktails however.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I can't speak about the rest of the hotel, but I have given the water park a visit, and it is really great. The Master Blaster slide, Rendezvous Run, is really a lot of fun, and the body slides are fast (yellow felt a little slow though, I think pink was the fastest). The wave pool isn't bad at all for being a smaller indoor version, and the hot tub is very comfortable, and I personally love sitting underneath or right beside the little waterfalls.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
Thank you all for you input, they are very enlighting. We were looking more for a hotel experience, the no "housekeeping" at the cabins is not plus to this group but the outdoor grill is. Also, the waterpark is a major hit with the kids. The more people involved, the more confusing it gets. Decisions, decisions. Anyone else?
