Car #13 on the Monster.

(Okay, sorry that this is a long one.)
So about a week ago, my friend and I decided to ride the Monster, since it was late and we were heading out of the park. We were in line for LEE but since the service was pretty slow we jumped to the Monster instead. Anyways, we got on in car thirteen and the ride started. Almost instantly, our heads were thrown back into the car because of the speeds we were spinning at. It's like on Tilt-A-Whirl where you spin really fast for a couple seconds then you go back to normal speed, but the thing was, ours did that the entire ride! We were laughing so much we started crying and the bright lights from the Gemini Midway were basically giving us laughing seizures.(They are like a hundred colorful strobes). Well, when it stopped, our car was still spinning, and when we got a hold of ourselves, we asked the woman next to us if she was spinning fast. She said no. So did the other two boys in the car to our right. We decided that Monster was the best ride of the night, better than MF, just for the fact that we had a blast the entire ride. After that, our siblings rode it and they got the same car. But what is really weird is that the ride attendant said to them, "Congratulations, you guys got car thirteen! Have a fun ride!" So has anyone else had an experience like this on The Monster?:)

Well I must admit I really like Monster and I think the Tilt-a-whirl is one of the best kept secrets at CP. While I wouldn't go as far as saying that Monster is better than MF my son and I have had some great times while riding it. Not sure what it is about the ride but it does something that makes a smile for sure.

Well, of course its not better than MF, just it was a slower night for us, and we needed that boost that Monster gave us both.;) But I completely agree with you, Tilt-A-Whirl and Monster are those fun little hidden gems in the park.

Every once in awhile you get the perfect weight distribution in the Monster car, and also start from the right position, to get a lot of spinning. One of my favorite flat rides, it was nice to see Monster refurbished over the winter.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Plus it's quieter with whatever they did putting the the equipment in the shed behind the ride..I barely hear anything from the actual ride structure other than the occasional squeak when a ride op tries to jolt the ride to a stop too quickly.

Yeah, you're right, I have noticed that. I used to remember Monster being a louder flat ride.

Always love riding that! I think it would be far more popular if it was moved elsewhere, but then it would actually have a line so I like where it is for that :)

Why are you so defiant about this?

I'm guessing the new shed behind the ride houses the pumps & whatnot now..That's where the rides familiar sounds I remember come from. I can't be perfectly certain of everything thats in there, but it was a nice change to see it get some beautiful TLC for once..

The paint is growing on me, the LED's grew on me fast, those look sweet compared to the old green ones that didn't light up the platform that well. But I'll miss the old black cobweb covered arms that made it feel like "Monster" to me..But happy to see them invest in keeping that old sweet ride..and seeing it have a line quite frequently makes me happy too

If you really like the spinning, then instead of riding a Monster, you want a Spider. The Spider looks like a Monster but has half as many cars, and the stub arms don't spin. The lack of tertiary rotation means the cars actually spin more than on the Monster.

If you want some airtime to go with your spinning, find an Octopus. The sweeps on the Octopus are longer than on the Spider, and the vertical motion is longer and faster.

Pity the two best-running Spiders have both been retired from Camden Park and Holiday World.

Years ago my dad and my sister had a experience just like the one you had. My dad had great time but he said he was done for the day after that ride.

IT'S HAUNTED!!!!
