Watching my sister pour her CC this morning I saw on the back 4 discount tickets. One of them was for Cedar Fair. It says: This is $7 off any ticket price to any Cedar Fair park. NOT counting water parks and Michigan Adventure.
Just letting everyone know that CF is poping up everywhere this offseason.
Let's Get Weird.
I recieved an email from Dorney Park that said Quaker Oats is now a proud partner of Cedar Fair so look for discount coupons on packages, I didn't know it meant chain wide, I that only Dorney. That's cool though. Get the name out there. I tell everbody that Cedar Point is the GREATEST PLACE ON EARTH.
I received a similar e-mail from Worlds of Fun.

Strange that Michigan's Adventure isn't included.

^I don't think CF is ready to take $7 off of an originally very low price of $25. That would mean that MA admission would only be $18.
never see any cedar point advertising over here in Rhode Island. maybe a pop up ad on a website once in a while but that doesn't count

Quaker Oats merged with Pepsi back in 2001 so it's no surprise as Pepsi is a major partner of Cedar Fair.

With it being an 11 hour 650+ mile drive from Rhode Island to Cedar Point, I don't think they would invest their advertising dollars there. They'd probably spend it more in the area of Ohio/Michigan as that's where the majority of their business comes from. It's all a business decision, where they can reach the most potential customers per dollar spent.
You'd be much more likely to see an ad for Dorney Park as it's significantly closer.
It'd be nice to see CP switch to Heinz ketchup. Clearly the best in the world, not that much more expensive than any other brand, and they're only 4 hours from Pittsburgh. Off topic, but it's consistently one of my only complaints about the park.
Leamington, the town right across the lake from Sandusky is the tomato capital of Canada. Heinz has a huge plant there. On a nice summer day in August when the tomatoes are ready the whole town smells like ketchup. I agree that they should switch to Heinz.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
And hey, if they should run out of ketchup during the day, someone could just swim right across and get some more! :)
Today as I was throwing away my chewy granola bar (10 pack) package I noticed a coupon that said:
Save when you RIDE, Save $8
Save $8 on a regular/adult one day admission ticket.
The coupon has a cartoonish roller coaster on it in the upper right hand corner. The coupon has the Cedar Fair logo on it but it is literally like 0.5" long by 0.25" tall. There are also 3 other coupons on the back of the box:
SKI, HIKE, and GOLF.
Once you cut out the coupon you can read the details (they are on the inside of the box). The coupon is valid at 10 Cedar Fair Parks, but not at the Cedar Fair Waterparks and not at Michigan's Adventure. The coupon expires on Labor Day (9/1/08). It also says it is valid for the discount on ONE ticket.
On the front of the box in the upper left corner (the corner directly above where it says 10 bars) there is a small advertisement (postage stamp sized) that says:
SAVE MORE
PLAY MORE!
Save up to $40 on family fun
See back for details
Ironically, I bought these boxes of Chewy granola bars at a Walmart in Indianapolis, Indiana (5 hours away from Cedar Point)! The only other CP advertising that I remember seeing around here was a billboard they had a few years ago.
Four discount funday tickets to Cedar Point: $130.96
Overnight stay at Breakers Express: $70
Riding rides the size of skyscrapers while "legally" breaking the local speed limit: Priceless

Or they could just drive 20 minutes south to Fremont, OH where there is also a Heinz plant. :)

I also received an email about the Quaker offer from Valleyfair! today.
While slightly off-topic, I was surprised to see that the ad featured riders on Renegade with their hands up...

Cedar Point is a well-known name throughout Indiana, so I'm not surprised at all that they advertise there. Even in Evansville, at the far corner of the state and much closer to SF StL, Holiday World, SFKK, and KI, I have friends who love CP and make a trip once a year.

Actually, Cedar Point is known throughout the midwest. I'm from Wisconsin, and even there, almost 10 hours away, nearly everyone has heard of "that park in Ohio with the most roller coasters" those Discovery specials really helped spread the CP brand.
