Can Cedar Fair Buy Six Flags?

Cedar Fair could probably buy Six Flags for pocket cash.

But why would they want to? They saw what kind of a mess they walked into at Geauga Lake, and how much it cost in money and effort just to bring that one park up to Cedar Fair's mechanical standards (and given what I saw last time I was there, they still have a ways to go...). Now multiply that by however many parks Six Flags operates, and it just doesn't look like a good investment.

I think one of just a few things will happen to Six Flags. Either Snyder will come up with the cash to buy Six Flags (along with its debt), the sale will go nowhere, or Six Flags will pass into the hands of a holding company that, like Tierco, Time-Warner, Boston Ventures, and Bally, isn't really in the business of running amusement parks and will be nothing more than a financial manager. Care to guess who the managing general partners of such a venture are likely to be? I'd say the initials "K.B." would figure heavily in such a partnership.....

What does K.B. stand for? In my opinion I think Snyder will probably buy the park chain Six Flags. However, don't expect him to keep all the parks. I expect that at least 5 parks will be given the boot. One of those parks would be Six Flags New Orleans because of Hurricane Katrina. The whole park is under water so when the water does go down, they'd have to spend more money into the park then what its worth because of the damage. Another Park would be Six Flags Darien Lake, this park like Geauga Lake has gone down hill ever since Six Flags Purchased it and I think it would be better in the hands of Cedar Fair. Anyone else have any idea of some other parks that possibly might go?

CF could turn SF:DL into something great. Why?There is no competition around DL and there is so much room to expand.

101 on Magnum and counting...

Today Cedar Fair annouced that they are no longer in the market to purchase Six Flags. I don't have the link on me, but if you go to Pointbuzz homepage, it will tell you everything. Even though this fell apart we could possibly buy a couple of their parks like Six Flags Astroworld and maybe the one in Canada around Montreal.

Astroworld has already started to take down their rides and some parts are starting to show up at other parks.

6 flags has been taken off the market. However Paramount Parks are now up for sale. Although it is highly unlikely I would love to see Cedar Fair pick up Kings Island. That would be what? another $30 on my season pass? :-P

Are there any parks Cedar Fair could buy? I highly doubt that Paramount would sell to Six Flags, I think they are smarter then that. Paramount I'm sure wants to keep their 7 parks in tact. I can't see Cedar Fair purchasing them either.

Does anybody think there is a chance Six Flags will still be bought by somebody? They just hired a new guy, I think he's the president of Six Flags now.

The company is no longer for sale.

I read the news article I'm just trying to get people's opinion on this, but nobody wants to I guesss. I kinda figured that Cedar Fair wouldn't be silly and buy Six Flags. I think that would've been a stupid investment. Now if they may have made a deal to buy like 2 or 3 parks then it would've been a good deal.

I think that's what they originally had planned. Like you said, buying the company would have been a pretty stupid move but buying 2 or 3 parks would of been good. Though I think that kind of move would have the same outcome as Geauga Lake(though I'm sure it will get better).
