Camping

Just a quick question:

I plan to go to the point with a few friends next Wednesday to Saturday, and we would like to go camping with the tent. Money beeing the main reason.

So does anybody know some fairly cheap and nice camping grounds for tents around the point?

Yep. Look up East Harbor State Park. It's $14/night for a non-electric site. It's about 20 minutes away, just off of SR2 across the bridge.

EDIT: Fixed a typo. And guess what, I'm an engineer, not a lit major. And yes, I realize this isn't english class. I just have standards :)

Ya, we usually camp at East Harbor. It's really nice, not to mention the showers and running water. But like jdoty said, its close and cheap.

Bayshore Campground is a very nice to stay. I don't know how much is it or anything, but they do have a shuttle to the park also.

Very clean and overall a nice place to stay.

Some stay a train comes by at night and is very loud and will wake you up, but I must have missed it since I was sleeping like a baby. :)

Bayshore Campground is only about 10 minutes away from the park depending on traffic. The web site says it is 12 for tent space. Bayshore Campground Rates

I made use of it but didn't find anything.

Thanks for everyone that actually posted some help.

Bayshore has two big problems. If you camp in the south end of the campground over near the highway, you will be enjoying the trains that rumble and blow their horns at 3am in the morning. If you head to the north end out near the lake, there always seems to be endless parties happening until the wee hours of the morning and the management of the campground don't do anything about it.

Your best choice is still East Harbor. A bit longer drive but the park police do enforce quiet hours.

East Harbor is stellar! I stay there every year. It's only about 15 min from the point. Plus, you have the added bonus of driving on the bridge over Sandusky Bay and seeing CP from across the bay before you get there. I know it sounds silly, but it really adds to the excitement!
