Hi, I will be taking my 2 children (9 over 54" & 11) the 2nd or 3rd week in August. We'd like to visit the Point for at least 2 days and then go down to PKI for another 2day visit before going to Busch Gardens Williamsburg for 2-3days. We're coming from New York area. We will have about 2&1/2 weeks to do this.
I know there are a few campgrounds in the area of CP.
I'm wondering which one might be best?
a)Easy to get to the park. But, not so noisy we couldn't sleep. Wondering if any of these campgrounds are 'party' places (would want to stay away if possible)
b)Any with free shuttles (save on parking)
c)Any recommendations would be appreciated?
First time posting and hope my post is OK.
PS- Any comments, recommendations or experiences on the trip would be helpful.
Glad you brought it up! I just got back yesterday from my annual 3 night camping trip at the South Bass State Park campgrounds in Put-In-Bay. The Put-In-Bay grounds are great for both RV and Tent camping. My trip was tent camping and you can get a site right next to the lake for only $15. a night. The grounds have fire rings, a beach, bathrooms and showers as well. I highly recomend it. There is also the Kellys Island State Park, and Catawaba Island State Park. The islands are only accessable by boat or plane, so it will cost you a few bucks extra. I also beleive there are camp grounds near Sandusky, but I am not sure. All of the mentioned camp grounds are about 20 minutes west of CP, but the they are worth checking out because of what they offer.

Cedar Point has it's own campground. It is almost never loud. If you stay until park closing then you shouldn't have any problems with noise. The bad thing is they do not allow tents and ground fires. Elevated camp fires are permitted. The smallest one sells for about twelve bucks.
The next best place is Camp Sandusky about ten minutes from Cedar Point. You can actually see Power Tower from this campground. Keep in mind that the camp ground is by three major roads. If the camp ground is full you will probably get stuck by one of the roads (they form three of four sides of the campground. The good thing is they allow campfires and tents.
