Camper Village, Lighthouse Point, and Sandcastle Suites?

I was looking at Google Maps and I noticed how much space Camper Village, Lighthouse Point, and Sandcastle Suites use. I put together these two pictures to show the size of them, compared to the main midway.

There's no doubt that they take up a lot of space, it almost seems like half the park if you count Soak City and its parking lot.

I really can't imagine them tearing down camper village or any of the hotels, at least not in the reasonable future. I'm sure they make a lot of money from both.

Keep your hands off my Camper Village!!!!

Keep your hands off my Lighthouse Point to!!!!

++1!

The area in the back of the park is what makes the Point unique. The planners were able to add an exciting new ride to the park without touching that entire resort area. I personally use Campers Village about 8 times a season and love the atmosphere of the challenge park, the beach, and the ability to walk 5 minutes to your night time destination after the park closes. Kings Island closed their campgrounds and we now use a park 30 minutes away. Not a great ending to a great day. Try it, you'll like it!!!

Totally agree on the suckiness that was the closing of KI's Jellystone campground.

From the top of Drop Tower, you can still see some of the remnants of the campsites (not where Great Wolf is obviously).

That changed KI for me forever. We, too, spend probably 15 nights or so at Camper Village each year. You can't beat the location, even if it is expensive.

The best part is, during HW, they let you stay on your site till 9PM Sunday...since nobody else is checking in. Most people aren't aware of this. We often enjoy a nice cookout at our campsite before the Sunday parade, then go back in the park for some no-lines goodness before heading out when the park closes.

Ive done it before, and I agree, it's really nice. But I don't get why they have to have 4 resorts right on the point.

Umm...because there's demand for said resorts?

I bet those resorts bring in more money per sf than if the acreage was converted to expand the park.

There are a whole lot of days during the summer, and especially HW, when Camper Village is completely sold out.

For every camp site and cabin, there is anywhere from 2-8 people that are paying for admission to the park. MaverickLaunch's comment on money per square foot is right on the money. Same with the hotels. Each room has 2-4 people. There's a lot of cash coming from the resorts

Thanks for the HW tip, Maverick launch. We have 2 weekends booked and definitely will hang around longer. Getting back to the worthiness of the resorts, room fees, gate tickets, food, souvenirs, and other extras all generate cash for the park. But then, they already know that :-)

209 Campsites at $80 bucks a night assume a 95% fill rate (198 paid sites) a night = $15,840 a day for a slab of concrete, water, electric, trash removal and ash removal. Has to be a heck of a gross margin.

I know if it were not for Camper Village we would not visit four times a year.

Apparently it takes a camper village.

Agree, Amaze. We go to probably 4 of the HW, plus Bonus Weekend, plus two other trips during the summer. Without Camper Village, we might only go once or twice.

We spend around 70 nights per year in our RV (including CP). Our RV is as nice as our home, and feels like home to us. Imagine if your home was just a few steps from the CP resort entrance? That's how we feel at Camper Village.

Yes, I'm sure that the resort make lots of money. Besides, would you really want Cedar Points biggest attractions spread out that much more? Most people already have sore feet at the end of a day. Those that would like to take out the resorts, plus those that would like to take out the parking lot would make the park incredibly spread out.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!

Best way to stay! Heading to Cedar Point next weekend for our last trip of the season. If you are ever there and see a Wildcat 5th Wheel in the court by the pool look at the site number card and if it says Amaze stop by for a drink!

Sometimes all are completely sold out so the demand is there.

We always stay on the point. It makes our trips so much easier. If one or two people decide to go to Soak City it's easy to go back to the room and change. If some people want to stay in the park and others want to go take a nap or get something to eat they can go back to the room.

We take food and drink with us so we can run back to the room rather than buying food in the park if we want.

The Breakers pools and hot tubs are nice. And you can walk on the beach after the park closes.

Please remain in your seat until the ride comes to a complete and final stop.
