Camper Village

Does anyone know whether I could just show up and get a campsite without a reservation? Reservations are saying Camper Village is all booked until the last weekend in October and I'm having a really hard time believing that.

Why is that hard to believe? Camper Village is small (much smaller than it used to be), and Halloweekends are here!

You could try and risk it, but do you really wanna drive your trailer all the way there only to be turned around???

If he gets turned around, he can always head right down the road to Bayshore campground.

Every year I stay there a couple of times (in a tent or a cabin) and it's pretty empty this time of year - you shouldn't have much of a problem finding a site there.

Getting some sleep in between the trains is another thing.

Thanks, Josh! I didn't know about Bayshore. Just looked it up online and found that its only 3/4 of a mile east of the causeway on route 6. Plus, the rates are awesome!

Dear Mr. MHW,

As a reservations staff member for CP, I can tell you that we are infact sold out for 2 night stays until the last weekend in october, however we do get cancelations all the time, so keep checking back... We do however have one night stays available for almost every friday, but they are also booking fast...

People find it hard to belive that we sell out, but Holloweekends are getting more popular as the years go on, its not only camper village, but also the hotels... Hotel Breakers has very limited availablity the next couple of weeks

Well that explains why there was a hour wait for MF last Saturday before the GP was even let in.

Mike,

Is it better to call reservations than look for availability online?

This time of year I would rather stay at a hotel at Breakers Express. They have good rates, and is the cheapest on the Cedar Point Penisula. Since I just turned 21 on this past september 14 of this year, I plan to stay there next year a couple times since I'm now old enough to stay at one of Cedar Point resorts.

Congrats, Shawn. You're also old enough to "enjoy" the show at Red Garter more than usual - provided you're into that :-D

-Josh

I've stayed at Bayshore (20+ years ago) and that train is a pain. You'll get broken sleep, at best. Stay on Point, if possible. Breaker's Express is the next best option.

I guess I've gotten so used to the trains that I don't even notice anymore.

- Ben (Who just bought a new tent :D)

Congrats, Ben! Enjoy! I love tent camping...just not at Bayshore.

Drop me off the side of a two track in the Manistee National Forest with a tent and I'm in heaven.

Ironically enough, that was it's first destination. Huron-Manistee National Forest along "Claybanks".

Cold beer, warm fire and dark skies...Hmmmm

I tried calling reservations early this year for Camper Village but they were booked solid. We wanted to spend a weekend. We have season passes. After a few weeks of trying I tried again but they were 'booked'. I hung up. My wife called and asked if they had any 'Weekend Packages' available for Camper Village. "Why of course we do!" was the reply. "Thanks" was our reply. "We only need the campsite. We already have our passes."

Nothing more was said. It is probably too late in the season for this to work but just a reminder for next year.
