Camels

Did it/they get loose or were they let out to run?

Are you serious?

Last I heard, they were headed for the sky ride.

This is all a marketing tactic to hint at a new coaster with plenty of camelback hills.

First ride; Magnum 1994

To be fair, I always try to let my camel out for a good run when he needs it.

^^ But, what day do you let him out? on a Wednesday? ....HumpDaaay!!!

Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike...

I adore those Camels, the idea they were just roaming around the park brings a smile to my face! Hopefully all are safe and sound now.

I hope they don't have to replace them with new aluminum body lightning camels, those aren't very reliable and they shimmy.

New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus

The person from the farm that takes care of the petting zoo animals full time said on a FB post today that they have video footage of the person that opened the gate to the camel's pen. She alluded that they know who it is, but didn't elaborate if it was a guest or an employee.

I love animals, and I hate seeing them mistreated. I have never, ever, ever had even a hint of suspicion that those animals there are mistreated. They are well cared for, and well fed. The interactions they have with their caregivers certainly show there is a bond between human and animal

It’s easy to see that the people who work with the animals have a genuine interest in their wellbeing and aren’t just some random circus act keeping lions in cages.

I honestly don’t know a single person who loves animals that has any real respect for PETA and their ridiculous tactics

I really didn't know until I read that they escaped. I thought it might be a guest enrichment experience.

So, did the pioneers actually ride camels across the prairies?

As I recall the US Army experimented using camels in the post Civil War period

Yes, you are correct. It is nice to know that Frontier Trail is authentic, except the music.

CoasterHawk, you raise a good point on the Frontier Trail music. While there I heard a twangy sounding version of Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf and also a strange sounding version of Superstition by Stevie Wonder. Two tunes from the early Frontier days of the 70's.

Seriously, bring back the hit records from the colonial old west.

I assume you mean the ones that the settlers listened to while walking past the 93 mph roller coaster.

^Yes indeed, the all-time classic "Home, Home on the Trail, where the Screamsters & the Camels roam......." or "She'll be comin' round the brake run when she comes...."

"As I walked out on the streets of Fronter Town

As I walked out in Frontier Town one day

I spied a young camel

Wrapped up in...wait...

Geez, Ezra, what the #$@#!! did you put in this coffee?!"
